Odd occurances.

Went to bed at about 6-7pm last night, woke up at 9pm, then went to bed again at 10pm, which lead to me waking up at 3am. After drifting in and out of consciousness, I got up at 5am, finished reading my English readings for the week, started on philosophy, then made some crepes. Headed out to biology, where I couldn't find any handouts because I arrived late, and found a seat by people who had handouts. (This=good.) Spent the rest of the lecture trying very hard to focus on my professor's talking; chocolate helped some, but I don't plan on developing massive amounts of acne, nor gaining ten pounds by the end of the term, so I might resort to coffee in the mornings. (Though, to be fair, lattes>>>two measly sticks of chocolate, in calorie content.)

I don't really like the section organizer either, though I think I'm just overreacting to things. After spending thirty minutes going over how we should read the course outlines, and check out WebCT for ourselves, and ask questions, she says that we shouldn't rely on each other but rely upon them instead for questions such as 'when's the next midterm?', because y'know, she totally meant to waste thirty minutes of my class time going over things we learned about academic responsibility in grade seven only to basically, at the end of it, assume that we weren't paying attention to begin with. Thanks for taking up thirty minutes of my attention span only to waste it for me. And the way the class in general was ran was quite bad; all the questions were horribly obvious from the way she structured things, and I bet that when the midterm comes and goes, the class average will be low partially because the course has been oversimplified in the lectures. I felt like I was better off just reading an outdated version of the text, and I can see that having only Biology on Tuesdays and Thursdays really provides a large incentive to skip. However, this was only the first lecture, so I hope things improve.

Thanks, too, for making out Biology not to be a memorization-based course where one will need to memorize and put that information to use; I really like how the professor's setting up everyone to fail from the beginning, though I do like her almost unnoticeable disclaimers that "open-book testing doesn't mean you'll be able to look everything up on the exam", and "you'll still have to know quite a bit of this material".

It'll be ironic if I end up with a really low mark in this course. But I digress.

Mmm, after that, I accidentally went to the Frederic Theatre, and found some people building props. I nearly volunteered myself then to help out-it looked fun. Though, I got to International House in the end, and attended an IRSA meeting with a speaker from Strategic and Defence planning at NATO, who said a lot of valuable things, like recommending extracurriculars over GPA. (GPA's still important, according to him, but extracurriculars will really allow a résumé to shine. Like getting an internship overseas with an NGO-that pays nothing.) I also ran into the girl from my philosophy class yesterday there. xD They had free grapes! So that was what my $10 membership fee paid for; snacks on Tuesday afternoons. o_O

After that, I went to Trans to hang around for a bit. Coops was taking down the Christmas tree while I was there; Trans now has an official Christmas tree, from what I understand. After that, I got 'lunch' at the SUB, and ran into more Transies. (Note to self: see how many people you'll meet if you just get out a bit? SEE?) Went to Buchanan at 4pm to try and find the Debate Club, but it turned out that they were hosting some third year sociology course there instead. (Should've sat in, really.) Apparently, I had the wrong room number copied down. Ah, well, there's always Friday.

Anyway, I finished my Econ homework then instead...tried to take the C22 to get home, but their
car batteries had died; when the driver turned on the radio for one second, I heard "and yes, the power's out!" I thought that was a rather ironic descriptor of the situation until I went home, and found that the power was out. Then it was really ironic. I grabbed my laptop, and walked back here. So here I am at the SUB again. Updating LJ. Again.

ETA: And the electricity comes on the moment I step into the building! It's like MAGIC. :D
