*For the last few days since making his presence known, Envy's been mostly hanging around in the same place in the Nexus. He wasn't sure if Riza intended to tell Edward what he asked her to, but from his point of view - he didn't have anything better to do. Thus, he was content to play the face in the crowd. Edward decided to go ahead and see Envy. He still couldn't entirely figure out why, but the possibility of maybe keeping the ticking time bomb difused was his excuse. Besides, he probably oughta tell Envy he got the message passed along to their father.

He has Riza with him for backup as he wanders the Nexus, leaving the apartments area for the first time since he went down for surgery, looking for Envy.

*And Envy catches sight of them. He almost jumps in anticipation, which leads to him mentally kicking himself over the fact that he might be glad to see Edward - though it's only for the fact that he's felt like its been literally forever that he's been waiting for this discussion.

He doesn't slink into the shadows, he doesn't make an effort to surprise Edward, he just starts walking towards them, with no hinit of theatrics. By the time he makes it to them, he just stops, and looks down at the ground.*

Edward is actually expecting Envy to pop out of the shadows or something like that- the sin has a real thing for that, and it drives Edward nuts. So he's a little surprised to see Envy just walk up to him. He glances at Riza, stopping in his tracks a bit from Envy.

"Envy," he returns with a nod. A second passes, then "I delivered your message."

*and that's when his resolve just shatters like glass.*

... My message? ... To father...?

...

*his hands clench into fists*

Thanks. Um. Edward. Sorry, I'm not very well practiced in this...

*he looks up, and blinks at something*

Oh. Hello Riza. *as if he didn't realize she was there*

Riza gave him a slight nod. Not a curt one, or unkind, merely reserved.

If you want to prove yourself for anything, Envy, you've got a way to go. But she's at least keeping in mind not holding the past against you should you be in earnest about a clean slate.

Edward glances at Riza again, then back to Envy. "Yeah, that one." He shakes his head, waving off Envy's apology. "It's fine. You wanted to talk to me?" Every muscle in his body is tense and telling him to run, to get away from the thing that had killed him once before, but he forcibly quiets the thoughts.

He's not going to let Envy terrify him beyond reason just by being.

*Envy just stands there, and nods.*

I'd say this makes us even, Edward. But then, I've done too much to tip the scales for me to ever come close to that.

But I suppose I should be thankful. The undeserving devil has a second chance to learn the error of his ways. A fair man would simply walk away and let you have your peace.

But the fact of the matter is... I believe I need your help...

Edward's hands unconciously close into fists at his sides. "It's even between us." They both killed each other and came back from it, yeah, that's pretty much even.

He bites back a sigh. "My help?"

Edward. I'm not back here because someone tried to be nice. I got pulled out of that dark little hell because of that woman. I trust Riza told you Dante's out and about?

Forgive me for playing the manipulation card again, Edward, but do you really want another incarnation of the woman my dearly departed former self refers to as "that bitch" using me for a scheme?

I need a place where she can't find me, where she can't just approach me whenever she feels like it.

I think that can serve both of our interests, really...

Edward drew a breath. "Yeah, she told me."

Heh. William. He hadn't talked to him yet, either. Jesus, the Nexus turned itself on its ass while he was out.

Edward goes completely still, not even breathing when Envy brings up needing a place to stay.

You must be fucking kidding.

He swallows tightly before forcibly releasing the breath he was holding. This as insane. Insane.

Envy has an unfortunate point, though.

He'll have to as Ren and Rai to keep an eye on him, is all.

"All right," he says, voice low, and he levels a stern gaze at Envy. "You can stay at the apartments. You'll be under the same rules as everyone else. Don't destroy anything, and afford the rest of the residents the same safety that's being given to you. You start trouble, I'll kill you again, if my security team doesn't beat me to it."

Riza stared at Envy and glanced sidelong at Edward, taking a small step closer to him as he spoke, then put her attention back on the homunculus

Heh. Well, its good that you all know exactly what you're getting into, and are giving me the same courtesy.

There's nothing I want more than to be free of that woman, really. *good job Envy, that's not a total lie - you want it, but there's something you want MORE*

Well then, that covers everything I wanted to talk about! *claps his hands together* Don't call me, I'll call you. I'll come around when I've gotten everything I need to take residence - and don't worry; I have absolutely nothing to tell you out with yet, so there's no chance of me successfully double crossing you.

Take care, you two. *and he welcomes the chance to bear that shit eating grin of his* I'll be seeing you...

*spins on his heel and walks off... for once, feeling like his old self again*

Edward watches him go, then looks at Riza. "Why do I feel like I just let the fox into the damn henhouse?"

"Because we have," Riza replied. "Only time will tell if the fox has been sufficently domesticated into a house pet."

Edward's shoulders slump a little, and he runs his hand over his face. "I'm going to break my rule, I think. I want a drink, and preferrably something stronger than tea."

See this? This is Ed's unhappy face.

Riza looked at him for a moment longer then sighed, and rubbed his shoulder. "Considering what just went down? I wouldn't say it's not warranted. Let's go to the Sin. We'll both get something, hmm?"
