they say love is blind

they say love is blind, but is it really? humans judge a person based on first appearance. people set standards, people rise to meet those standards. it’s the cruel circle of life.

they say love is blind. is that why when people cheat their partners turn aside? is that why they refuse to acknowledge the long broken bonds of their so-called relationship? maybe yes, maybe no, maybe so.

kyungsoo believes that he’s patient. he’s patient when kai comes home late, cheap perfume littering his clothes. he’s patient when kai’s half-drunk and delirious after a “business meeting” with his co-workers. kyungsoo has been patient all this time, waiting for kai night after night.

so why can’t he be patient once kai calls out another’s name?

though if kyungsoo is honest with himself, he isn’t really surprised. not after all the unexpected trips and unexplained bruises.

kyungsoo can’t wait for kai anymore. he just can’t. even if this is being selfish, kyungsoo believes he deserves to be so, just once. the door is closed with a silent click, kyungsoo’s heart moving with it.

kai wakes up to cold sheets and an empty house. the scent of overdone tea no longer lingers in the morning air. a single toothbrush sits in its stand. shoes are lying carelessly around. for the first time, kai is completely and utterly alone.

they say love is blind, but kyungsoo wants to see.
