I was watching Focus Earth just now and they were talking about the viability of "clean coal". This made me wonder, just how green the power that comes into my house is. I did a bit of Googling and found this
site available from the EPA that tells just that.
Basically you put in your Zip code, pick what power company you use and the site breaks down where your energy comes from and how the information stacks up to the national averages. See my results for Florida to the left.
You can then put in your monthly usage information from you electric bills in to find out exactly what part of the emissions are yours.
What does suck, however, is the data is from 2004. I know things have started to change since then and would love to see an update of how my power company (Florida Power & Light) is lowering their effect on the environment. Also it seems that the system breaks things down by state, but this may just be how the grid is distributed and it may not be possible to break it down to smaller regions.
