This is so painfully random. I'm not an Ebayer. I have like 12 feedbacks to my ID, I would have had more if it weren't for the goddamned snipers. Yeah, the hard thing about eBay is that a lot of people don't want to pay too much for the item, for a variety of reasons, so they'll wait until the end to bid. One thing you can do to protect your bid is decide up front how much you *really* want the item and use the, uh, what's it called? The thing where it bids for you (I started using eBay like *seven years ago* but my feedback is something like a 12 also because I rarely use it!) up to your max bid. And then do the odd number thing yourself like if you're willing to pay $30 for a game, figure most other folks are also, and set your max at $30.50 or something. I almost never see an auction ending, becaues of work, sleep, etc, (and I'm not nuerotic like some people I know who will do eBay auctions with TWO MONITORS when they *really* want something!) so I just plan ahead.

Then if Snipper Bob swoops in with 9 seconds and bids $25 and your previous bid was $15, eBay is going to auto-bid you up to $25.50 or whatever *immediately* (he'll never show as the high bidder since it's an autobid).
