General goings-on:
* Went to a scrapyard and got 57 quid for the scrap I'd generated by stripping down stuff I was binning. Big win! Really pleased with that.
* Mum got her new car. She's really pleased with it.
* Kat started her new job! Yay.
* Got a couple more viewings booked for places in Manchester.
* Not been sleeping properly - IDK why. Maybe I'm stressed over moving, having no money, etc. I'm so fucking tired!
* Stu's coming over tonight for a night of geekery. Stoked! Setting up "Damn Vulnerable Linux" for us to tinker with. Have half a bottle of Jager, too. I suspect drunken hax will occur.
* Looks like I'm going to adopt a half-finished paid freelance webdev project Kat was doing for a guy at her Uni. It's in PHP - fuck I detest PHP[1] - but needs be as needs must. Should take me a few weeks to finish, once I get started with it properly, which prob won't be for another couple of weeks (I'm wary of diving straight in and taking a different approach to Kat).
* After that, IDK. Kat has a 'pet project' which she's toying with the idea of taking commercial, but it's more in my skill area than hers - she wanted to do it so she could learn stuff about microcontrollers and electronics. If we decide to commercialise it, I might end up fast-tracking until it works. I reckon I can have a prototype in 2 weeks (back-of-an-envelope calculation!).
* I asked Kim for her opinion on the project, and she thinks it's a really good idea. Kim isn't as electronics-obsessed as me and Kat, so she'd point out if we were just applying electronics where it wasn't needed, just for the hell of it - an unfortunate habit of mine. I need to get Kim and Kat to meet IRL - I think they'd get along, if we can skip the "girlfriend-and-ex-girlfriend-meet" thing. They even have the same hat [2]!
* This project has caused me to have a bit of a flight-of-fancy around making various bits of e-fashion to flog to the cyber/electronica/tech scenes. Everyone I've asked thinks I should go for it. IDK. It's very tempting, but I'm very aware that I know very little about design. I don't really know how to 'learn' this shit, either. Can you learn design? Am I cursed with bad taste for life? :D
* My brother, Matthew, and his girlfriend Lucy are coming up north on Saturday. Yay! It'll be lovely to see Matthew again, and to meet Lucy properly. Looking forward to the five of us at Christmas!
[1] I have also hardly used PHP, so perhaps my opinion will shift once I've used it properly. To be fair, I usually find myself hating languages until I've spent some time getting used to them, and getting in their skin, as it were.
