Visited Quan Ming earlier to kick start a regular dental check-up routine.
The check-up was really fast, followed by a really painful process to dig out all the tartar ($65!). Black and bloody stuff was what I spitted out while rinsing! >_<
Then, I agreed to an application of chloride gel ($40!). Was still suffering from the morning blurness, and I didn't really clarify how exactly would this procedure would benefit my teeth. Well I guess, it forms a protective layer against corrosive attacks.
And was given a bottle of mouthwash ($5!) which i should have rejected since I already have listerine at home!
Blurry start for the day and $110 poorer right now. >_<

But I made another gain too, that of dental health knowledge and some thinking:
> Signs of gum disease include swollen gums, bleeding gums (despite gentle brushing), bad breath, receding gums, longer looking teeth.
> The cause: plague harboring bacteria which secrete toxins. I guess the toxins damage the integrity of the surrounding gum and bone. As it gets severe, the gum disease signs begin to show, eventually leading to the infection of the gum and bone , thus causing loosening of the tooth (and also probably the decay of the infected tooth).
> Aint exactly sure of how the toxin or the bacteria cooperate (good likelihood that they do) to impact the tooth-gum-bone unit. Does the toxin degrade them to facilitate the invasion of bacteria?
Also aint sure of the adverse influence of tartar (which results from the hardening of plague). I am guessing that tartar coat reduces the degree of association (via some kind of periodontal fibers) between bone and tooth roots, thus causing destablization.
Pretty much a boring entry.
