John was super nervous for Bro, despite the apparently approval-laden book about dating Striders he got him as a Christmas present. Of course, it did have a lot to do with the whole...crush thing. That one time.

But in all honesty it was probably worse on Dave. The poor guy was worried he was going to get rejected! John just wished he could tell him what he knew about Bro, but...

Oh well. At least he brought some puppet-sized condoms as an offering. Hopefully that wouldn't make things terribly awkward.

Standing outside the door to Bro's room, John glanced at Dave, smiling weakly.

Dave was pretty sure he was going to need surgery to untwist his stomach from the knots it was tying itself into. He knew Bro wasn't the type to judge, he knew that, but there was still that doubt in the back of his head.

He'd been planning on waiting to tell him until high school, when he would probably be a bit more comfortable with it. Those plans had sunk flawlessly.

He took a deep breath and opened the door, hoping that Bro was in there as he stepped into the room.

The television in his room was smaller than he'd like but he was working on that. Just had to sweet-talk the vendors a little more. Cal, as always, was by his side; Steve the unicorn was at his feet much as a beloved pet might well be for others.

When the door opened, he didn't even look up. "Yeah?"

John bit his lip. He figured this was more to do with Dave and Bro talking about how much they like boys together or...something. But he knew he had to prove he was good enough for Dave still.

"Um, we have something to tell you..." He glanced at Dave and gave him a little nudge. He had to start it, after all.

Bro paused the game and looked up as John spoke, his expression unreadable as ever as he listened to the two. After Dave's confession he stared for a couple moments more, just enough to make them sweat a little but not long enough to cause any real worry.

He then turned back to his game, his only response a simple, "Okay."

He paused, having a brief internal debate about whether this was his business in the end. Ultimately, he decided it was worth the risk to make Dave feel better.

"Bro, don't you, uh, have something else to say to Dave? Maybe?"

Bro looks up again, eyebrow raised questioningly. He has a feeling he knows what John's hinting towards, but that's a conversation to be had strictly between Striders who are so by blood. Preferably on his own terms.

"Well if you were older I'd tell you to play safe but that seems a little inappropriate round about now."
