Summary: Poland's having a bit of trouble dealing with Liet's departure, but at least the revolution has pushed him into accepting it enough to leave the room now and then. Progress?
The Story:
This was getting ridiculous.
He didn't know exactly how long it had been--he'd lost count of the days, and hadn't really bothered yet to figure out how many he'd lost. What he did know was that the morning he woke up in an empty bed had been warm, the days he'd spent roaming around looking for his husband bright and hot, and now there was a sharp chill in the air every day. Something deep inside him told him that it was time to go out and gather food from the woods, time to get ready for the last, frantic burst of the harvest. It had to have been... several weeks, if not a couple of months, that he'd spent holed up in his room, sleeping and praying and clinging to the emptiness his husband had left behind..
There went his theory about people who didn't interact with anyone going home, he guessed.
His theory about the Queen being to blame for him being stuck there, too, it seemed. It was like, after almost two years, he was right back to square one... except at square one, Liet had been with him.
But he'd dwelt on it enough. He was a strong nation--a proud nation--and as comfortable and happy as he had been with Lithuania at his side every day, he didn't need him. He didn't need any man or nation to make him whole.
He wasn't quite sure he believed that, but it was long past time to try. Self-pity had never suited him.
So, when the commotion of the revolution died down, he started making a point of wandering a little every day. Down to the stables to fuss over the horses, out to the beach for a walk, into the woods with a basket to take advantage of the nuts, berries, and mushrooms available there...Anywhere, for a few hours, but in his room. It was high time for him to get living again, even if he had to battle his memories every step of the way.
