that someone might just be gareki goggles4ever June 23 2011, 04:35:20 UTC
Gareki decided it was time to get away from the Mansion itself and explore its vast grounds. He had wandered around, sketching the basic area in his head, but he had never really visited each corner in detail. First stop was the gardens. It was a nice quiet thinking place.

Or so he thought. Obviously he wasn't going to be alone, he expected that much. But he didn't expect a kid. A kid with a soccer ball. And though he had no idea who this child was or that they had spoken before, Garkei stopped in his tracks and couldn't help but glare at Conan.

Conan felt Gareki's presence but he ignored it as it seemed unthreatening. Or well, at least until he felt the glare. It didn't seem too threatening or murderous. But as he turned around to look over at who the person was, his foot hit the ball at the wrong angle and flew way up and about.

And well.

You know AT LEAST IT DIDN'T HIT THE FACE.

But it did hit his head.

OH NO YOU DIDN'T.

Gareki actually staggered back a step. Possibly from the shock. Or from the throbbing pain. Who knows, but the little kid had some legs. He silently swallowed the pain, hand atomatically clenching at his head following the blow. The pulsing pain faded away within a few seconds, but it felt like minutes had passed, before he let his rage explode.

"What the hell is wrong with you?!"

Just be glad Conan didn't use the power booster shoes. Then your head would have sunk. Or something like that. idk.

Conan ran over to the rolling ball to pick it up. "S-Sorry mister! I didn't mean to do that!! Um um, are you okay?" he looked up from down below at Gareki, trying to identify the voice that he swore he heard before.

Ah-ha.

"I'm sorry Gareki-san."

It was somewhat later in the afternoon when Minato arrived to the gardens. He arrived a few minutes earlier than the appointed meeting time, but saw that Conan was already there practicing.

The teenager watched him for a moment or two as the detective manipulated the soccer ball with ease, not wanting to break his concentration. Once the ball was back on the ground, Minato approached.

"Edogawa-kun. Did I keep you waiting?"

Minato didn't have to, as Conan realized someone was watching him. But he finished and let the ball land before turning around and running towards Minato, ball under his arm.

"Nu-uh, I just felt like coming early!" Which, if you asked anyone that knew him from back home, was like. Never.

Minato nodded, seeing how enthusiastic Conan had been. He could understand it since sharing what one loved with someone else was always a good way to build or strengthen a friendship. They had the academic and investigating side down, maybe with the coffee too, and now something a little bit different with a sport.

"Mn, like a warm-up. I'm ready when you are."

"Okay! How much have you played soccer by the way? School PE only?" he asked, wondering on where to start. It was best to know how much the other knew, it would be much easier.

Bagheera was all but patrolling the grounds on this fine day. Old habits die hard, and he couldn't keep himself from checking the grounds for changes or signs of new residents at least once every day. By now he knew every resident's scent, where their rooms were, who they associated with most frequently... and he of course had every inch of the house and surrounding property memorized.

As he passed young Conan, he noticed he was kicking around a good sized ball. Memories of his cubhood came rushing back, and he couldn't resist going over.

"Hello, Conan. What have you got there?"

Okay, here was a presence that was definitely familiar, but not familiar. As much as odd experiences he had, he had never met with a wild leopard before the last event. What surprised him more was 1. it spoke and 2. it knew his name.

Conan stopped dribbling the ball and looked at the wild animal. "Hello. It's a soccer ball," he answered, settling on talking to Bagheera like he would a normal adult.

"A soccer ball. Why is it called this?"

He pads closer, coming to sit near Conan and wrapping his tail around his feet. He's still eying the ball curiously.

Conan was pretty nervous. This was one of the things where he had no idea what to do. Whiiiiich was pretty rare.

"Because it's a ball to play soccer with. Do you know soccer?"

Minako was outside, taking in some fresh air before she saw a little boy with a soccer ball. She was sure that she saw him before when she first arrived here but she wasn't sure should she talk to him. He was really interested in playing with the soccer ball right now.

Still, watching him play with the ball reminds her of her own childhood just a bit...

Conan noticed, like with all other people, that someone was watching him. And like most people, she didn't seem to be threatening, he let her be. However, she seemed pretty interesting so he paused in his ball kicking to turn around to look at her.

"Oh. Hi, Minako-oneechan!"

"Conan-chan!" She said after noticing that he was walking up to her. At least now that she didn't have to feel awkward being the first one to talk to him. "What were you doing outside? Did you want to play soccer with someone?"

"Well...I promised to play with Arisato-san...um, Arisato Minato-san, afterwards, but I felt like playing already so I came early," he answered, purposely re-saying Minato's name just in case. But it wasn't like there were more than two Arisatos for now.
