Who: Saix [bloodluna] and Beast Boy [master_of_dudes] Where Out in the forest When: Before the .Hack event, shortly after this. Rating: PG for violence Summary: Saix is about to teach Beast Boy a lesson in self control the Story: ( By losing his own )
Thankfully for Beast Boy, his ears were completely safe today. Maybe. He just happened to distract himself along the way--no, he wasn't nervous about what Saix had planned for him, what are you talking about? Somewhere along the way, Beast Boy had to wonder how he managed to make such creepy friends. Seriously. Raven was creepy personified, Saix is basically a sober Scottish man, and he was fucking someone who looks like a zombie.
What is his life.
So he took his time putting on his Titans uniform. Looked for his Russian hat. Donned his Russian hat. Put on a scarf. Fed Mini Shark. He discovered what Farmville was. He learned that he couldn't get a Facebook and, thus, could not get Farmville. Considered asking the mansion to make some applications for the network. Took the stairs, slowly.
And, at last, he reached the forest. BB's stomach knotted in dread as he walked through the forest. Eventually he shifted into an Alaskan malamute because it's cold and Americans fucking hate the cold.
That knot of dread certainly didn't dissipate when he saw Saix waiting for him with the Sword of Doom leaning against a tree. Beast Boy wagged his tail, hoping Saix would find the dog too adorable to torture.
Unfortunately, Saix was the sort of person who would throw kittens into a sack with a brick, and then throw that into a river. No animal was too adorable for him to be unable to do anything to it. Especially if the task in hand involved doing harm.
Though this would be for Beast Boy's own good.
"That won't work," Saix said, as a distinctly green dog approached with a nervously wagging tail. He reached back and took his sword, feeling its heft as he brought it slowly forward, and rested it blade down against the ground. "You are going to fight me, and you are not going to stop until I let you. For your own safety, do not hold back. Use everything you have, and everything you know, to try and beat me. Do I make myself clear?"
Beast Boy, could, technically, transform into the most adorable kitten on earth, but he has just enough sense to refrain from doing so. He liked being alive, kthnx.
Speaking of which, he should probably remind Saix how much he enjoys being alive. He shifts back into his human form and unconsciously backs away. His entire body language--hunched in on himself, ears lowered, eyes wide--is a pretty universal message for PLEASE DON'T KILL ME. It'd be more pathetic if Saix wasn't sporting a giant sword of death. Under the circumstances, it's a perfectly reasonable reaction.
"H-hey, wait a sec! I'm on my fourth death! Are you trying to get me to five?!"
The corner of Saix's mouth twitched for a bare, fleeting moment, a brief smirk of cruel amusement, but he answered, "If you fight back as hard as you can, you won't die."
Although the words 'you can beat me' fled long before they reached Saix's throat, the implication remained. Saix had beaten a mindless beast, once. Beast Boy, he knew, was stronger than that, because he was smarter than that.
"If you don't fight," he said, and with a clang the blades of the claymore were bared before he continued, emphasising his point, "it will be a very swift death."
He looked Beast Boy squarely in the eyes, his expression and tone serious. "That fear you feel is your greatest enemy. I am leaving you with no choice. You must fight for your life, or you will lose it. Think of the pains it will cause to others if that happens. How will Kite react? Will you abandon Terra, and desert the other Titans, your other friends, because of your fear of me, of death, and of yourself?"
Okay, so the unspoken words did give Beast Boy a little confidence that today wasn't his day to die. The second Saix mentions his friends, he immediately straightens up, eyes narrowed. At least it's not as bad as Mento's emotional abuse.
"You're joking."
By BB's tone, it's clear he knows it's really, really not. So when backed into a corner with no choice but fight or die? Yeah. BB knows what option he's going with. He's still nervous--who wouldn't be?--but he quickly puts his fists up, body tense and ready to morph.
"'You are you're own worst enemy'. Ya know who said that to me last? Trigon. And ya know what happened? We beat his butt all the way back to the netherworld! Don't think I'm gonna go so easy on ya just because you're my crazy friend."
He hops a step back, his body instantly changing into a tiger. The green tiger bares its teeth, and this time the implication is BRING IT ON, BITCH.
"Good," Saix replied, readying himself as Beast Boy changed. Saix didn't intend on holding back, and he didn't wish to need to because Beast Boy was. This served a purpose, for Beast Boy, and in a dozen round about ways, for Saix, but in the immediate, if Beast Boy held back this would be far less enjoyable.
As soon as those teeth were bared Saix brought the spiky end of his claymore down, hard on the ground, yelling wildly with the force, and with the animal inside straining at the chains that held it. Blue black flames erupted and fanned out in racing lines across the ground.
Saix wasn't even going to let things warm up first. He wanted to make Beast Boy work.
Yes, Saix. Let's force your teenage friend to fight for his life and push him to his mental limits. Anything less would be boring. You douche.
The only time BB had seen Saix anywhere close to his true strength was when he was gutted and had the option of climbing up the wall for escape. Now, he had to shut out all the friendly feelings he had for Saix and fight. The good news was he didn't feel the cold, bitter anger in the pit of his stomach he had felt when fighting Terra. For Saix's purposes, that might've been better, but what can you do?
The second the claymore hit the ground, Beast Boy charged. It would only take three strides to reach Saix; hopefully Saix wouldn't be able to lift, aim, and bring down his heavy sword in the time allowed. His claws extended, aiming for a swipe at Saix's side. Technically a tiger can tackle with enough force to snap a deer's neck, but BB was never willing to go that far. ...And Saix's claymore was in the way. That was a factor too.
And Saix's claymore was in the way, swinging in a smooth and powerful arc through the air to meet where Beast Boy would be just as he got there.
And yet it wasn't the spikes that were designed to make contact. Saix swung out with the flat of his claymore, as if to brush Beast Boy aside, rather than impale him. Admittedly, it was to brush him aside with a giant, heavy club thing that happened to have spikes attached, but still....
Saix was staying in control enough that he wouldn't actually risk killing Beast Boy. Not if he could help it, at least.
And if Beast Boy watched, there was a flicker of teeth, and a smile on Saix's face that lasted barely the blink of an eye. He was impressed, and glad, to see that Beast Boy really was trying.
Even if he was still holding back a little, but for now, so was Saix. It was something Saix didn't intend on allowing to last.
Which was why he gave chase, claymore raised to strike again and batter his friend with a combo that was difficult to break.
Admittedly, Beast Boy can take a lot of abuse, especially as a giant cat. The blunt of Saix's claymore was only a little worse than Adonis' fist--something BB could handle, at least. And damned if that smile wasn't irritating! Of course, he could've imagined it, but he didn't put it past Saix to only smile at him when they're in the middle of a death battle. Good to know, dude.
He didn't have much time to contemplate the nature of Saix's maybe-smile when he was suddenly assaulted with more hits. OW. The first hit landed on his flank with enough force to send a shock of pain down his entire leg. The second he managed to barely dodge, swiping desperately at the claymore, Saix, whatever the hell he could reach. By the next hit to his shoulder? His reflexes acted and decided that the best course of action was to block the claymore with tusks.
Wooly Mammoth tusks.
Hi there Saix. Nice view from up here.
BB raises his sensitive trunk away out of the line of fire (because seriously the last thing he wanted was a spike to the nose) and swings his giant head towards Saix. On the plus side, he was now much harder to harm. On the down side, he was slower and less maneuverable, and larger forms were harder to keep for long periods of time. All he had to do was wear down Saix enough before he had to change into something smaller again.
What is his life.
