Though he could tell from the tone of Faith's voice that she was being dismissive, and mocking, Saix couldn't understand what she was actually calling him. Not that it mattered; he wasn't one to allow himself to be angered by that sort of reaction anyway.

Already she was backing away, too, looking for somewhere to run, or somewhere to fight. Good. Being outside already gave Saix a small advantage, but not the same advantage as he'd have had at night, under a full moon.

That meant this would take a little longer.

He opened his arms, holding his weapon in one hand, focussing on the feel of an unrisen moon. It took him off his feet, leaving him hanging, suspended and impervious in midair for a few moments.

"Can you feel it? The moon's power."

Not that Saix was paying attention to the words coming from his mouth, or to any reply that there might be. He landed back on his feet, lowered there carefully as if by unseen hands.

Only then did he brandish his weapon properly, holding it back so that when he came for Faith it was with a powerful overarm blow.

She knows that this isn't going to be a walk in the park, even if the dude was completely off his rocker. And, okay, there's floating and she's pretty sure the moon doesn't come out for another several hours, but hell who was she to deny this nutcase his crazy ramblings?

Faith's heart kicks up as he rushes toward her, and she moves as fast as she can to the side, but there's a crushing pain in her leg that tells her it wasn't fast enough. She's on the ground and rolling to get back on her feet before she knows exactly where she is. Faith muffles a yell as the weight she puts on it sears pain through the muscle again, but she can walk. That's about all she needs.

The pain helps her when she rushes forward, testing his defense while she darts left and right. She makes a point to try and avoid getting hit with that thing again, banking on a closer proximity being the key. If she's lucky enough to get in close, she's going for the classic weak points; knees first, to level the playing height.

Saix swung the claymore with ease, sometimes bringing it around with one hand, and sometimes with two. His attack was fast, and strong, and constant, but his defence...

Ah. His defence was weak, and always had been. A blow to the leg brought him down onto one knee with a snarl.

A berserker's strength lies in an ability to fight to the bitter, bitter end, fighting through the pain, and one his knees Saix brings the head of his weapon down hard onto the ground, sending out a shockwave like an earthquake through the small area around him.

He got back to his feet as his eyes filled with golden glow, hair standing on end. Then he ran, despite his leg, yelling wordlessly and sending those same shockwaves through the ground around him over and over, always heading for Faith.

It'll only last a minute, two at the most but that's only if the moon is out, and full, but while it goes on that minute seems to take far longer, and Saix is nothing more than a snarling beast. He follows Faith's movement, but there's no thought behind it, just instinct and bloodlust.

It's hard for her to dodge every attempt, and Faith takes a good amount of damage even as she closes in on him. The arm that doesn't have a bullet in it is now bleeding freely, and she took a dull hit to the head when trying to move out of its way.

She cheers internally when he goes down, but the she's hurrying to roll out of the way of the claymore. The cheers turn to cursing as Faith herself is hitting the ground, thinking that blow to the head must've done more damage than she initially thought. When she realizes it's actually the ground moving up on her, she almost breaks her legs trying to get a better stance on it, when it comes up to meet her, hard. Finally, she manages to almost leap frog to one side, just trying to keep on her feet. Faith needed to get that weapon away from him.

She wrenches a rock about the size of her head out of the tossing earth and lobs it toward him, then moves back to grab another smaller one to follow it up with. The pain in her leg's telling her she actually just might have broken it. If at least she can distract him and rush him again, maybe she can get inside his range and finish this off. She has to ignore all of the pain for now.

A rock did it, embarrassingly, or it would have been embarrassing if Saix wasn't too deeply embroiled in the fight. A sharp blow to the head and the glow disappeared from his eyes and suddenly--

-- suddenly the pain was back in a sharp wave, like a stampede that had been held back by secure gates. Which had just been opened.

His leg was injured, hurting enough that he could stand on it, but short of being in his full berserk state, he had no chance of running on. That left him with only long range attacks, until she got closer.

Which was why he raised his weapon, bringing it down onto the ground with a yell, letting rip with dark, cursed blue flames that stretched and fanned across the ground in racing lines like the scores left by the claws of a rabid animal.

A very big rabid animal.

Being fast and strong only goes so far; Faith's never fought against anything like Saix, aside from a bit of magic here and there. She's not a stranger to panic, however and it makes her fuck up bad when she attempts to dodge out of the line of fire and finds herself in the way of another.

Pain and heat sear through her leg and she jumps back, getting thrown off balance and landing flat on her back on the ground. She's bleeding bad and the wind's knocked out of her even as she scrambles to get back upright, rolling forward for a little momentum. Faith drives forward, grunting with the pressure on her newly wounded leg.

Just a few yards closer; Faith yells as she closes in on Saix, launching herself toward him.
