Summary: A confused Lily Evans enters the world of Wonderland
Hogwarts was lovely in the spring, of course it was beautiful in the winter and spectacular in the fall and glorious in the summer, so it seemed all seasons had their own token of attraction. Lily could appreciate these sorts of things. Spinner's End was home, but it lacked the grandeur and palatial spaces of the school. More importantly it lacked magic.
One more year. Less so by a few months, but essentially one more year before she could practice magic legally on her own. She so looked forward to it, to what she could show her parents, though Petunia would have none of it of course. Already she was engaged to that oaf of a muggle, Vernon. The loss pained Lily, she and her sister had been so very close that to lose her in such a way seemed cruel. How could she be punished because of what she was?
It was the same in reverse for those that mocked or teased muggle borns at Hogwarts. As she had come to understand Sev had not been entirely honest with her when he told her that blood status meant nothing in the wizarding world. There had been more than a couple of his own house mates who had been unkind to her based on her blood, or lack there of in their views. But Severus had still remained her friend, as she remained his despite the derision of some fellow Gryffindors.
One year until she was an adult, some bit of prideful beaming with the idea as she peered out into the courtyard, last chilly fingers of winter beaten back by the breaking sunlight of spring. Flowers were not yet in bloom but they were budded and ready for the right amount of heat and light to burst into color. It was going to be a beautiful day, the weekend was free of classes, she had no particular place to be and could relax and perhaps take a walk through the grounds.
It was a sound plan, one which had Lily wrapped in her coat and scarf trundling through the portrait hole out into the hall. The step down being a rather bit higher than she expected, Lily went tumbling head first. The red head pulled herself to rights and blinked around her as she dusted off her coat, shedding leaves in the process...leaves? Sparkling green eyes went wide indeed to see herself not in the corridor just to the side of the Fat Lady's gilded frame, but instead in some lovely warm and sunlit grounds. "What in the world?"
Good question, she had no idea how good. Lily rubbed at her eyes, and then her head. Had she somehow stunned herself in the fall? Was she stupefied or confunded? "Alright...what sort of joke is this?" Portkey perhaps? Lily reached within her coat, fingers wrapping around a slender shaft of wood and feeling instantly better for it.
She had her wand, and so armed she ventured forth, a rather large mansion loomed ahead of her. Smaller than Hogwarts but somehow it struck her as a bit more strange. "Well where ever you are Lily Evans, this is certainly not Hogwarts." She took a deep breath and cautiously opened the door to the grand main foyer, stepping inside prepared for...well..hopefully for anything.
