Remus had waited for Sirius to kiss him like that for what felt like ever, dreamed about, longed for it. But now it felt awfully hallow. He wanted to know what exactly what Sirius was playing at. He hated being here so much at that moment. If they didn't have those damn journals, he never would have seen that comment that Sirius left James. He hated everything, but he felt like he couldn't hate Sirius. He wanted to, but he couldn't. Its not like Sirius had promised him anything. He really couldn't be angry at him for kissing someone else, especially a girl. That was the logical thing for a bloke to do after all. If that was what Sirius wanted, then he wasn't going to stand in his way.
He somehow managed to smile a little. "Ah well yeah," he mumbled and shifted the books he was holding around to first under his arm, then back into his other hand, then finally hugging them to his chest. "I, er have you seen James? We should do something, the three of us. That would be nice." Remus ducked away from Sirius and started back down the hallway. If they were with James, he could force himself to pretend that they had never crossed any lines they obviously shouldn't have in the first place.
Oh no he didn't! Sirius knew something was wrong. This was not alright. "Alright Moony, what's wrong?" His voice was commanding, almost willing the other to stop in his place and tell him. Whatever this was was balls. He wasn't going to leave something like this go and Remus damn well knew it.
Remus cringed a little. He really really really didn't want to have this conversation with Sirius. He turned around to give Sirius, what he hoped was an innocent expression.
"Nothings wrong, its just I feel like I've hardly seen James since he got here and well you know, maraudering to do and all that." He smiled weakly.
"Balls." Came the flat reply. Something was wrong. "If I've wanted to snog you as bad as I have then you've wanted it too. That kiss was rubbish Remus. Something about me is bothering you and I wanna know what it is right now."
Remus resisted the urge to just say, your face or something else not helpful.
"There's nothing wrong, I mean there would be something wrong if things were different but right now there's nothing wrong," Remus frowned. He really didn't want this conversation at all.
That was it. Sirius already had a short enough temper and right now Remus was hitting his last nerve. He grabbed the other boy and pulled him right up against him. "Then. What. Is. Wrong?" He asked in very pointed words. He would find out what was going on and fix it.
That was not the right move, because Sirius being pissy only served to piss Remus off too. He struggled against Sirius' grip but the other boy wouldn't let go.
"I told you nothing, you ass. Cause that's what this all is isn't it? A big fat nothing," Remus' face flushed red, with a mixture of embarrassment and anger. "You never promised me anything so I don't have any right to get upset over who your with or not."
Remus arched an eyebrow. "Are you? I obviously missed something because I thought that meant you didn't kiss other people. You know I can read Sirius."
"Kiss other ...." His jaw dropped and he started laughing. "You mean Evens? I never snogged Evens, I was just dicking Prongs!" This was funny. Who would actually believe he could snog Evens. Not to mention her not being his type she was James' girl. You didn't snog your best mate's girl.
Remus didn't know what to say. His face turned even redder. He never wanted to sink into the floor more then in that moment. He was so confused, embarrassed and hating himself. He didn't know which was worse, the fact that he had believed it or if the fact that he doubted Sirius. Not that they had ever really set parameters for their relationship, but still he should have trusted Sirius after everything they had been through, and well Remus was a terrible ass.
Sirius did though. He pulled the other boy close. The boy was almost animal-like in his actions. He ran his cheek over Remus' before nipping at his ear. "I'm not snogging anyone but you Moony."
Remus nodded a little and leaned closer to Sirius. He still couldn't look at the other mad, so he stared at the spot where his shirt fell away from his neck. He ran his fingers back and forth over the soft fabric across Sirius' chest.
He ran his fingers along the other boy's back, holding him close and letting his eyes close slightly. "Whatever I say to Prongs is just to pull his dick, you know that."
"I know, I know," Remus muttered against Sirius' chest. "I just.. I don't..." he sighed and paused for a moment trying to think of exactly what he wanted to say. "I guess I still can't believe you want me, I mean like this. And, well, I am still a little scared you know? I mean if things went badly, I don't want to loose our friendship." He pulled away a little so he could actually look up at Sirius.
He looked Remus straight in the eye. "You're not going to loose me Moons. No matter what happens." He leaned forward and tried that kiss again. Maybe he'd get better results this time.
He somehow managed to smile a little. "Ah well yeah," he mumbled and shifted the books he was holding around to first under his arm, then back into his other hand, then finally hugging them to his chest. "I, er have you seen James?
