Trying to ID an insect from crop damage

These tiny ovals (just a couple of millimeters) are all over a lot of the lower leaves, in the corn fields I've been studying. I found out what was causing them last year, but then I went on maternity leave and I totally forget and can't find a record of it...

I think it's some kind of parasitic wasp, and not actually something that's harming the plants. But I recorded the occurrence of these ovals as part of my data collection on crop damage so I'd love to at least know what they are, haha. Could be an interesting quantification of potential for beneficial parasitism?
