See, you point out exactly why I think it could easily turn out to be Chouji/Shikamaru rather than Shikamaru/Chouji. Initiative.

Like that there's no unnecessary surplus of words between them. They understand one another very well. ^_^

Also love that you're working from Chouji's pov; he deserves the spotlight more often than he gets it.

Also: And when he’d returned no one was happier than Hyuuga Neji.

All in all, this is a warm and squishy and thoroughly enjoyable read.

this pairing is surprisingly easy to write for. best friend dynamic who would have thunk? *eye roll*. i like Chouji pov because he's one of those characters who is ignored for the most part unless Shikamaru is around. which is fine. i just don't think certain aspects of their relationship would ever happen unless Chouji made it ridiculously easy for Shikamaru.

This is very, very true.  And I like that your Chouji gets that, and is willing to step up to the plate to make things happen.
