I am not associated with Gryffindortower.net, says watchful_entity in its enlightening posting (which at the time of writing has an amusingly appropriate 666 comments). Now, I'm willing to believe that it isn't a card-carrying member of Gryffindor Tower, that in fact this entity has not so much posted on the boards there ( Read more... )

I think I like you better than this watchful entity person. It really gets on my nerves, and I just discovered it's livejournal. I think I've decided to friend you, so that I may keep an eye on it. I like reading it's amusing entries, and everyone elses amusing responses. *grins*

So, despite claims to the contrary, the watchful_entity seems to be associating itself with Gryffindor Tower by virtue of repeatedly defending them and theirs (and only them) and attacking (or "watching") those people who have been on the other side of the numerous GT-related flamewars...

That still doesn't explain how I got pulled in. I didn't even know a Gryffindortower.net existed. I'm guessing this it just picked some people on purpose and then poached off the friends lists, though since it won't say why we have been chosen beyond "don't act innocent" this is wild specualation on my part.

I like the fact that someone is watching the watcher though I wish all watching was on my mutual friends list.

It's easier to frolic that way.

*nods* Our noble watchful_entity seems to have using the mantra "the friend of the enemy of my friend is also my enemy" - if anyone on your friends list "slandered" its friend, and you failed to defriend that person, then you are clearly guilty by association.

I despair, I really do.

And if only I knew who these enemies of it were on my friends list, I would give them all a giant hug and tell them, next time give me fair warning to be able to duck and cover.

Oh, dear. Unfortunately, my watchfulness is insufficient to see whether watchful_entity and the poster of the same name on that Troll Contest page are indeed the same person. And I'm not sure which answer would be preferable...
