I find it surprising that the Republican Party, which always tries to position itself as being in favor of "Family Values," is about to select a Vice Presidential candidate who has a four-month-old baby.
While I certainly agree that women should be able to do anything, and that having children shouldn't prevent you from having a successful career, I think we can all agree that running for Vice President is an extremely demanding job requiring long hours, extensive travel, etc. It doesn't seem to me that a mother who chooses this particular career path at this moment in her child's life is really exhibiting the kind of dedication to her work as a parent that I'd expect to see from the "family values" party.
