How to take U.S. Passport photos with a film camera

Posted so I don't have to keep referring back to the magazine I got these instructions from, Popular Photography, September 1996. These guidelines were used to take my own current passport photo.

Use a camera with a 50mm lens, loaded with ISO 100, 200, or 400 film.

1) Have the person being photographed stand/sit in front of a white wall -- ideally at least 3 feet from it, to avoid annoying shadows.
2) Position the camera 65 inches away from the person to be photographed, at approximately the same height as their face. Take lots of pictures!
3) Have the film printed 4" x 6" size -- get double prints if you need two identical photos.
4) Choose the picture you like best, cut it to 2" x 2", and you're good to go!

The official guidelines say the head must be between 1" and 1 3/8" in height.
