The thing about the mountains is the people. It's close enough to Sydney that it keeps up with the trends but is kinda bush in that people don't mind waiting forever to get a script, and eventually, you know everyone. (Our customers are always running into friends in the pharmacy, perhaps this is one of the reasons why they don't mind waiting so long.)
People in the mountains have horses in their backyards. In the mountains, gardens back onto the bush. People here really like their dogs. (Walk down the street and guarenteed to see a dog being walked or tied up outside a shop.)
At the chicken shop, I was the aussie. Here, I am the local ethnic. It's all anglo saxon blah blah, with a tinge of trailer trash and the occasional "Oh, is one of my addresses, I'm also at ". And the tourists. The Dutch and the German speaking Swiss are always really nice, and often their English is good enough for them to understand medical terms. The Brits are good in that they don't expect everything to be the same as back home, and will take your advice as to what's best. The Americans are the worst.
