The problem with doing a 'research project' for classes is that it is never enough. Never enough time, never enough subjects, never enough data. I tend to long for longitudinal studies... which never fit in to a nice semester-long, nor even year-long course. Time to start that dissertation and let it percolate for a while... So tonight I'm supposedly writing up the finalish draft of a paper on a qualitative research project I did. Now, much as I'm into observation and could possibly be accused of being talkative, as far as research goes, I generally tend towards more of the quantitative side, so this is a bit of a stretch for me. Don't get me wrong, I found the interviewing of children to be quite fun, I'm just having a hard time drawing conclusions from conversations with three kids. Asked them what they thought learning was, what they thought was hard to learn, easy to learn, important to learn... Now I want to ask the same of everybody I know. But can't pull that off before tomorrow evening. Oh, and upside to qualitative - bigfun movie cameras I can just borrow from the library tech center. Seriously fun. Good thing cognitive neuroscience gets to play with fMRI, their bigger "camera" might just win the fun research toys contest.
