I.E. Dear Lazyweb,
You've been to bars where there's lighting built in to the surface under the liquor bottles so they kind of glow from within, right? I really kind of like the effect. My question is: Can any of you think of an easy and inexpensive way to reproduce this? I can't even find the right search terms to find off-the-shelf versions online, and if they did it would probably cost $100+ for each little panel of it. So I am wondering if there's the perfect little cabinet from ikea or whatnot that I could fill with Christmas lights and be happy with.
... alternatively, I suppose I could find some kind of shielded fluorescent tubes and put them behind the bottles (layered two or three deep) and go with that. Of course, finding impact-resistant fluorescent fixtures presents its own set of problems.
This question is asked in preparation for the big Thanksgiving party, where I am turning the Safehouse kitchen into as close as I can approximate to a decent bar, of course.
XOXO,
- Jack
