Mission Post - Shuttle Bay, Day 13 [open/ unfinished]

Sep 23, 2009 19:44

It was a bumpy ride -- of course, because no one sane ever made a shuttle craft with a smooth ride -- all the way up, outside and in. After surviving a hostile abduction, the bizarre bastard child of a political intrigue and a ceremonial sacrifice, they'd escaped. Only to maybe be done in by killer sex spores ( Read more... )

Having an aviophobic doctor on one side, and a rather...enamoured leader on the other, Kirk had his hands full. Lady Boudicca was practically in his lap, her arm wrapped around him and her body hot and heavy against his skin. Kirk had expected her to be swayed by his charm, certainly -- but it was never in his wildest dreams that he'd figured that he'd be uncomfortable with a gorgeous woman tugging at his zipper or grinding her palm against his crotch.

He finally held tight to her wrist to keep her from reaching down even further, swallowing hard as he attempted to keep his dignity in check.

A deep breath, and Kirk spoke into his comm right before the shuttle landed. "Captain's log, Stardate 2258.323," He looked back at the rest of the shuttle and wondered how the hell this would get fixed -- whether or not they had the ability to stop it. It had yet to hit Kirk, not even seeming out of the ordinary despite the large whiff he'd gotten of it in the chamber with Spock. "We've escaped Bacchus II for the ti- " Boudicca had started entwining her other hand in his hair and tugging back, lips hot and heated against his neck.

"We're working on diplomatic resolution on Bacchus II. Those lost include Security Officer Simpson." Kirk said the last part with a little bit of hollowness, probably the very reason why he wasn't more responsive to Boudicca's rather abrupt responses. "More to come. Kirk out." He knew it had to do with the spores. When they landed, Kirk saw the feminine figure unlatch itself from the shuttle's belt and head quick towards the outside, her hair still glittering with the gold dust that had settled on everyone and everything.

He kept his hand on Boudicca's wrist, pulling the powerful woman along side him as he looked for the other officer, who...

Had disappeared from sight.

With nothing to show for it but a trail of dust that had followed down the hallway.

Sky whirled when she heard Leonard, feeling security personel closing in on her. Deep down the reasonable scientist in her was barking out orders to stand, be sensible, don't act like such a melodramatic girl. But she had gotten a good dose of the golden spores and right now, the reasonable scientist wasn't getting the airplay she should have.

"No!" she hissed at Leo, crouching like a trapped cat, hand idly reaching up under her dress. They curled around the cool hypospray that Leonard had given her, had it only been that morning? "I can't stay Leo." she begged him, blue eyes wide and dark with true and honest fear, "If I stay someone will want me, and when I say no they will take me. I don't want to be taken Leo, not again. Just going to my quarters, please just let me?" she pleaded. Then red shirted guard made a lunge for her and the calm that had temporarily been there was gone as Sky dodged.

Leaping she jammed the hypospray against the mans neck, injecting him with the melanex and she lunged over his crumpling body. Free! Free, she just had to be fast, and if Sky was anything she was swift on her feet. If the situation hadn't been so bizzare and potentially troublesome she could have made a beautiful sight: a pretty dark haired woman running, in a rippling dress, trailing glittering gold dust from the streaming night dark hair and fabric.

Cassie was heading to the shuttle bay when a figure appeared suddenly and disappeared just as quick. Cassie wasn't sure who she was. The one thing that she could figure out was, that from the way that she was running, she wasn't a happy woman! Cassie was also aware that as she was running she was leaving a trail of dust behind her.

Cassie knelt down and had a look at the dust, running her hand through it. As she did she disturbed it and a small cloud rose up in to her face as she took in a breath inhaling it deeply. Leaning back on her heels Cassie's head began to swim. First she sneezed. Then she sniffed.

"Oh that's just great. Trust this to aggravate my dust allergy." She said to no-one in particular.

Then something even stranger started to happen. She felt the need for company. Male, female it didn't matter. She wanted to be with someone. To be touched. To be held.

"Ok this is different." She thought.

Then the feelings intensified. Now she wanted to have bodily contact. Skin to skin. To feel someone inside her. God she hadn't felt this way for so long. And she needed to get out of this uniform. It was making her so damned uncomfortable. Without a single thought of where she was or who might see her she stripped down to her bra and panties and then decided to take her bra off as well. For finishing touches she let her hair down.

'Mmm that is so much better." She said, throwing her head back and shaking out her hair.

"I'm sorry, but I can't let you do that, Sky. You'll infect the whol-- shit, no, stop!" It was one of the worst nightmares a physician could face. He watched -- in that damn cliched slow-motion, no less -- as a patient, infected with an unknown contagion, broke through quarantine and bolted into a sterile, enclosed, inescapable environment. There was no place to hide now. Setting up a safe zone for treatment just got even more difficult. There were only so many biomasks on board. How were they gonna decide who got to be infected and who remained unscathed? And for how long?

If they got out of this alive and whole, Leonard would be surprised if he was still a doctor.

Right. Well, for the time being he was the CMO. And he had a job to do.

As much as he wanted to bolt after Sky, he couldn't break quarantine any further. After all the bodies that'd been brushing against him, he was just as covered. So he ran over to the shuttle bay's comm system instead to take care of immediate business. "Security to Sickbay! McCoy here! We've got an emergency quarantine situation! An infected patient has broken quarantine in the shuttle bay. That patient needs to be intercepted and brought to Sickbay NOW. Engage with caution, patient is armed and seriously compromised. Wear appropriate quarantine gear! I repeat, emergency quarantine situation! Patient can be easily identified as wearing... well, a damn glorified bedsheet!" Thinking quickly, attempting to predict Sky, Leonard added that she was likely en route to her quarters. He just hoped they intercepted her before she got too far.

Shit, shit, shit! Someone had broken quarantine already? She grabbed a biomask and put it on as she broke into a dead run down the hallway towards the shuttle bay. "Creed to McCoy. Moving to intercept. Where d'you want her taken?"

Thank god, some real manpower. "McCoy here. Glad to hear ya, Commander. The patient in question is Lieutenant Cavendish, and she was raving about getting access to her quarters. If you get a hold of her, take her directly to Jovan in Sickbay. Careful, she's covered in spores -- they're the contagion and they're yellow -- and she's got a damn sword and a hypo of melanex on her. She's assaulted one of your guards already." On that note, he should probably add that too. "And I think we're gonna need more security personnel. If Cavendish was able to break the line, god knows who else will."

"Roger that. Good luck down there. Creed out." She skidded around a corner and sped up again, switching channels on her communicator. Her voice echoed from the ship-wide intercom - it was the only way to make sure everyone she needed to hear did. "This is Creed. Attention all security personnel. All shifts report for duty: alpha to medical, beta to shuttle bay, gamma patrolling the corridors." A momentary pause for thought and she added. "APB on Lieutenant Schuyler Cavendish, heading from shuttlebay to quarters - armed and contagious, approach with caution."

"Garrovick to Creed." Sky had blasted past him a second ago, streaming her gold dust and looking more like something from a fairy tale than a someone dangerous. He hadn't thought his first task as a Security Officer would be to track down a pretty girl in a revealing dress. "Located Cavendish. In pursiut."

And he was, racing after the young woman, biomask carefully in place as he followed the shimmering shape. He was surprised however when she slowed to a stop and then climbed up into a Engineering tunnel. Slowly he followed, finding the young Lieutenant curled up in as tiny a ball as she could make herself, shivering and crying. "Lieutenant?" he said softly, "Sky, it's okay...no one is going to hurt you."

Flipping open his personal comm he called Creed again. "Garrovick to Creed. I have her Commander, she is in Engineering shaft 77B-61C. And...um...." the young man sounded genuinely disquieted by this. "Um she's crying."

They were after her...and although she wanted to just curl up in a ball and cry, she knew she was in serious trouble. Assaulting another Starfleet officer? After this she would be lucky to be allowed to stay on ANY ship. But still the need to hide, the need to be alone was almost overwhelming. The young woman came skidding around a corner and crashed through two security guards who barely had time to do anything before she was in the turbolift.

Fear made her panicky. She had to find somewhere safe. Her quarters would be the first place they would look, Leo wouldn't help her, Jim wouldn't either...she was alone.

Clambering into a tube she crawled up into some of the Engineering tubes, curling up in a secluded space. Maybe they would find her here, she thought miserably, maybe they would. And maybe it was better they did. Feeling her stomach drop to the floor the young Lieutenant buried her head in her arms, and wept.

"I hear you," Creed responded, "On my way. Don't touch her unless you have to."

She slowed a little - because damn, apparently she wasn't as young as she used to be - and headed for the shaft in question. It was easy to spot the right place, what with the slightly lost-looking Aiden and the faint sobs drifting out of the access hatch.

"Well?" she said.

To say that Aiden looked relieved to see his Commanding Officer might have been an understatement. Green eyes lit up even as he automatically moved to an attention stance. "The Lieutenant is in there." he said, jerking a thumb up at the service hatch, "She seems to be more frightened than violently inclined." and she is crying, he didn't add because they could hear the desolate sobbing from where they stood. Give Aiden a eight foot monster anyday rather than a beautiful girl crying.

Clad in her bio-uniform, she gave a salute to the doctor in charge, thankful for a chance to help. The mask was pulled tight over her face, and she went out on the mission with a bright, sunny grin. The accents that flitted through the air between the two communicators made her smile widen, and she nodded as she ran towards Engineering.

Sure enough, there were already two people in the hatch, and Nurse Rousseau spoke up with a cheerful lilt to her voice. "If you would not mind, mes amies, I will be happy to assist you. We can not risk further infection." She handed them both biomasks, praying that the proximity hadn't already caused the spores to pass through the air. God only knew what would happen if this lead to the oxygen vents.

"Merci," Creed said wryly, taking the biomask. The medical ones would be more effective than the bog-standard biomasks they'd managed to scrounge up.

Crouching by the hatchway, she was vividly reminded of the time her younger son had climbed into a ventiliation duct and refused to come out. In much the same maternal, soothing tone she'd used then, she said softly; "Sky? Sweetheart, are you alright in there?"

A hiccup came from the hatch, "I'm fine." it was obvious that the young Lieutenant was trying to sound in control, but there was a wobble to her voice, "Sorry about your guard Lynn, but I had to get by. I don't want to be near people. People take, I don't want to be taken."

A shuffling sound and a gold dusted dark head poked out, with blue eyes wet with tears. "I don't like not being in c-controll of what my b-b-body wants." Her eyes moved from Lynn to Charlene to Aiden who she eyed with a certain amount of wariness.

Male, her spore ridden mind warned, even as her body thrilled, Not safe!

"It's alright," Creed said, talking softly like one would to a spooked horse, "He wasn't badly hurt. But I need you to come out of there, Sky. We need to take you the informary so we can fix this."

She didn't miss the look of fear either. "Aiden, can you back away some?" she added in an undertone.

"It's not safe." the Science officer insisted, but she still slid slowly from the hatch in the dress that barely covered everything and that seemed to shimmer with gold spore dust. "I don't want to sleep with someone." she brought the sword out that she had carried from Bacchus but merely hugged it. "I don't...I can't..."

The large blue eyes watched as Aiden obiediently backed away and the easing of tension was noticible in the slender shoulders.
