[Backdated] I Am Relieved [Closed/Incomplete]
After the commendation ceremony, Kirk felt like he was walking on air. What had happened in the past few days was enough to take it out of any man -- Kirk had slept for almost a full sixteen hours upon returning back to San Francisco, and he found coming back to the Academy dorm and the pretty, well-manicured grounds to be a stark difference between the cool, sleek hallways of the Enterprise. He had missed the sun, though, and he took a moment to lift his head, the soft bay breeze wafting over him. He felt like getting back into space as soon as possible -- and they would, eventually, whenever they finally received their mission.
For now, he had an Admiral to see.
The shiny bronze plaque was already on the door of his office. Admiral Christopher Pike. Kirk glanced up at it and smiled, asking the computer for access -- it was one thing to see his faintly sad smile during the ceremony. Something in him was tentatively still seeking Pike's approval, and he waited patiently in his cadet-red uniform.
