It was amazing how much time you could lose dicking about in the rec room. Seemed like just a little while ago he'd been saying 'one more game and then lunch', and yet somehow they'd managed to reach a point where most of the crew had already had dinner.

Making his way through the mess hall, he set his tray down at the first empty table he came to and slid into a seat. With an absent nod of greeting to the guy at the next table he set about polishing off his meal. Man. He hadn't realised how hungry he was.

Even though Ko's ears were focused primarily on the conversation about the warp drive, he was still paying close attention to the rest of the room, noting comings and goings, occasionally switching conversations to make sure nothing strange was going on.

Someone in command colors sat down at the table next to him and nodded. This was actually an easy gesture for him to identify, since it was also a greeting on Dex. He gave a small grunt in response and continued eating his pizza.

For his part, he was enthusiastically tearing into a burger and fries - the food of the gods - with the singleminded determination of a poor, metabolically disadvantaged human who hadn't eaten since breakfast. It was definitely missing something, though. He gestured to catch the attention of the dreadlocked guy; "Pass the ketchup?"

The guy at the next table asked him a question, and Ko's brow furrowed slightly. The hell is ketchup? he wondered, silently considering how to respond. He glanced at the table and saw a red bottle and a yellow one. "This one?" he guessed, picking up the red bottle.

"Yep, that's the one," Adrian said, reaching across to take it from him. With an air of satisfaction he upended the bottle over his fries. "Thanks." If he thought the confusion as to the nature of ketchup odd, he didn't comment on it. You got all sorts in Starfleet.

He grunted when the human confirmed that he was holding the right bottle, and handed it to him. Humans put strange things on their food, but then again the pizza was good, so maybe ketchup was as well. He just nodded at the thanks.
