Mess Hall - Day 10, Saturday Late Morning (Open)

Aug 23, 2009 20:24

Once again, Leonard woke to the music of churches, nice and soft and praising a new day. Unlike the past week, though, his head wasn't so groggy, his heart so heavy, and he didn't need to be anywhere. He'd had a small breakthrough in his battle against aviophobia. Nowhere near cured -- he couldn't look out a window to save his lunch -- but at ( Read more... )

Entering the Mess hall, clean, neat and delicate as always, Sky's blue eyes quickly picked out the unmistakable form of the Doctor, lounging comfortably in his chair, reading. A small smile touched her mouth before she tucked it away in favour of her usual playful crooked smirk. She moved lightly over, dropping down into the seat opposite him with a sigh. "Morning Leo. Hope I haven't kept you waiting long?" she said, tilting her dark head to the side, "I still definately need coffee."

She was feeling better today than she had the last few, but there were still faint bruising under her blue eyes, and her skin wasn't as healthy as it ususally was. But she felt better now, she thought, 'ooking impishly up at her friend, Leo always managed to make her feel quite a lot better, and no, that wasn't just because he was a Doctor. Leo the man made her feel lots better.

Leonard had been smirking and snorting to himself over his cup -- what the hell did these people think a pituitary gland was for, a sex trait mix-n-match? -- when he heard the seat in front of him move and sigh. He grinned up at the familiar and welcomed voice.

"Mornin', Sky. Naw, s'all good." He didn't actually know how long he'd been reading, but it'd gotten some work out of the way. The mention of coffee had him studying her face a moment. He cataloged what evidence was left of her recent illness. "How you doin'? Need another hypo?" He had his suspicions with the bruising. The cocktail he'd filled the hypo with included a mild sedative to help her sleep.

"You know Doctor, it is well documented that people can become addicted to the concoctions of drugs that you lot put in those hyposprays. I did not, however, know that it is possible for you to get addicted to sticking people with said hyposprays too." Sky retorted, rolling her eyes, and flicking her fingers at him, "Stop fussing. If I ever collapse, /then/ you can fuss over me, but not when I am recovering." she grinned at him fondly and then placed her hands on her armrests and pushed herself back up to her feet, "Just going to go grab some food, what would you like?"

Served him right, he supposed, to have a patient nearly as stubborn as him. Didn't help that Sky's attitude matched his, at least as far as chemical dependency went. Damn, when did she start listening to him? He sighed and gave her a look just so she knew that it wasn't a complete defeat on his part. "Not an addiction. More like occupational hazard. When will you people learn that if ya don't want your doctor chasin' you, then don't give him a reason to chase you. I'm not a track runner, after all."

Oh no, he wasn't having none of that getting up shit. She was still recovering and besides, it was impolite as a gentleman. Leonard rose with her, continuing, "And collapsing is not the best time to start a diagnosis. So why don't we just nip that one in the bud, and you sit yourself back down?" She looked like she was gonna mutiny, but he just shushed her with a hand on her shoulder. "Now, I insist. I'll get you that coffee and anything else you want."

Family. She considered him family, had claimed him enough to make him a native. Leonard was real touched by that. "You two are the only ones who'll have me anymore. And you do take care of me, dontcha? Even when I'm being a bastard." He nodded and said no more on that. It was too early for him to be wearing his fool heart on his sleeve yet. Best to keep it up that sleeve for now ( ... )

A soft pink tinge touched Sky's cheeks as his fingers brushed her hair back out of her face and a small smile touched her eyes once more. "Everyone has bad days." she murmured softly, "You wait til one of mine, then you might revise that opinion you have of me." she grinned a little. "I can see you liking rich, smooth chocolate."

He was like the chocolate he described after all, her traitorous mind supplied wickedly, dark and smooth, simple and yet completely intoxicatingly fascinating. Not that she would ever share this opinion. He would be embarrassed and avoid her. Something she definately did not want.

"Mmm yes please." she said, nodding, lifting her coffee mug and examining it. "It always goes so fast."

"That they do. I'll be waitin' for it, chocolate in hand, promise," he grinned as he stood up. Reaching for her mug, he continued, "Don't I know it. This shit's horrible, but I think I'm properly addicted now. Be back in two shakes of an Andorian's antennae ( ... )

"Silly me for hanging out with such an in demand man." Sky said, smiling fondly as she accepted her coffee and sipped it happily. "Mmmm this stuff is awful, but it is caffinated." she sighed happily and grinned at him, "Settle down, soothe the ruffled feathers and relax again. And I know you have a life outside work, its tracking down people to harrass inside work." she blinked innocently at him and then grinned that bright, cheeky little smile of hers.
