Biolabs - Day 29 - closed/unfinished

Dec 16, 2009 23:45

There were definitely moments when a starship's head nurse was required to behave with the utmost maturity, decorum, and professionalism. Offensive spacecraft attacks, containment breaches, away missions gone wrong, accidents in Engineering... most of the time, actually. Christine was no stranger to this. She was comfortable in her role in the ( Read more... )

It was pretty quiet around the biolabs and Arboretum, most people were off being busy. However there were some who were stlll around.

As evidenced by the bang from Biolab one, and the tumble of swearing that floated out the door.

Inside was Sky, glaring at her equipment which had just decided it wanted to stop work for the day. Muttering curses the young woman sat on the floor, fully prepared to sulk for a little while before trying again.

Swearing and glaring and... sulking on the floor. Obviously, Christine's candy intervention would be a much needed one. She cleared her throat, still standing a ways behind Sky.

"Special delivery, Miss Cavendish."

"If it's work, please turn around right this moment before I throttle you with a creeper vine," Sky said in a pleasant tone, looking up at Christine with a small smile. "I'm technically off shift..."

"I know you are, sweetheart." Christine laughed and extended the bag. "That's why I thought you might be interested in helping me eat these. So long as your plants don't make me have to go back to Sickbay before my next shift."

"I love you." Sky groaned when she saw exactly what Christine had brought for them to snack on. Quickly she got to her feet, deliberately not looking at the infernal machinery and smiled at her friend. "I have the perfect place to hide out and eat these."

So saying she led then out of the lab and through the huge domed Arboretum. Moving down a corridor she stopped by a door and plugged in a code. Ushering Christine in Sky smiled as she followed, shutting the door behind her. "Welcome to the rare plants bay..."

Christine followed obidiently, a sort of mockery of her usual pristine behaviour. The Arboretum was a lovely place, even if she didn't often visit. Whenever she was here, though, it seemed to always be with Sky. Of course, this was no time for admiring the plants. There was hiding to be done and treats to be snacked upon. Which was, apparently, what the rare plants bay was for.

"Ooo, exciting," she said, teasing but not joking. At this point, she offered the bag to Sky. "You've got first dibs, sweetheart."

"When I say rare, they mean really rare...like almost exinct rare." Sky told her, reaching out a pale finger to trail along the tendrils of a pale blue plant. But then the food caught her attention, "Ooh."

She scooped a piece out and popped it into her mouth, sighing with pleasure. "Mmm god. This is like what I sometimes imagine heaven to be like. Cept with less clouds and feathers."

Laughing, Christine pulled out a piece of candy for herself. "I've definitely got to give the base credit for having such a good selection of junk food. It's as if they know we'll go crazy without some none-replicated stuff every once in a while." She chewed thoughtfully on the candy, which was a mouthwatering melon flavour. "I approve, for the record."
