Leonard followed along meekly behind the tall, straight-shouldered figure of Admiral Christopher Pike. He knew he was in for it now. Bad enough what Borad and Carmichael had no doubt been reporting to the man about Leonard's performance during the quarantine, the clean up and the building tensions during research. Having to bail him out after
the blow up with Borad in the Sickbay... well, just another nail in the coffin on Leonard's career.
What bothered him worse than any of that, though, was letting the man down personally. After the trust Pike had placed in him, making him CMO in word if not in paper even before Leonard had graduated. And then all those promises to watch over ship and crew -- especially the Captain -- that he'd sworn to the man.
Yeah... he didn't blame that ramrod stance as they came up to Pike's quarters in complete silence. Once inside, though, he was sure there'd be a whole lotta noise going on. Leonard vowed to take it like a man as he stepped inside.
