Sickbay -- Day 14 (Midday) -- [Semi-private/Unfinished]

Oct 08, 2009 22:12

The first thing Leonard did when he was alone, finally alone and safe -- he resisted a bitter snort at that thought -- was take a shower. Wash off all the sweat, the booze, the sex from the night before. He wasn't gonna think about the night before. Wasn't sure what to think about the night before. The night before was still largely living in ( Read more... )

With PADD in hand, the Yeoman had been in between jobs running a few reports down toward Engineering with a quick stop off at medical for a few things for the CMO to sign. Tonia hadn't expected to stay more than a few minutes for him to complete the paperwork needed. However, when she stepped inside the med bay, nose buried against the PADD, the poor girl didn't exactly notice the mess around her.

Let alone a puddle of something on the floor that caught her off guard.

A loud squeak escaped her lips as PADDs went one way, feet the other, and her rear being introduced quickly to the floor. Curling up in a ball she tried to protect her head from falling pieces of technology that were bound to clatter to the floor in 2.5 seconds. "Ouch.."

Another distinct opening door, another visitor. Hopefully, Christine thought, another non-medical crewmember ready to help, since their own staff seemed to be dropping the ball today.

She turned her head just in time to see a pile of red dress uniform and black boots land hard on the floor. There wasn't much she could do but watch the woman cover her brown hair in an attempt to soften the inevitable blow from the airborne instruments she'd been carrying. Lost somewhere between wanting to laugh and wanting to snap that that is what happened when quarantine was broken and nobody bothered to clean up properly, Christine stood. Identifying the yeoman, she chose the former option and stepped as quickly as she dared to new pile on the floor.

"Another mess for me to clean up?" Christine asked, crossing her arms. Chortling, she wasn't really all that intimidating, but she could try. "Yeoman Barrows, I'll have you know this is unacceptable."

One PADD smacked against her arms leaving the woman squeaking again along with a soft whimper. PADDs were not meant to be flying objects, gorramit! However when Christine talked the woman dared to actually look up at her through her arms. Yeah. She was totally getting an earful about this later on. "Yeah well it's not like I meant to cause this one, Nurse Chapel."

Grumbling slightly the woman started to stand looking around at her backside and the half wet skirt of her uniform with a large pout across her face. So she was going to have to schedule a change in her day somehow now. Great. And it was also the first real look at medical she managed to get since entering. "What th.. So Doc McCoy is more of a party animal than the Captain now?" the Yeoman asked with wide-eyes and a slack jaw. The place was a mess!

Christine watched the progression of emotions across Tonia's face, already knowing each one of them personally. While she'd settled on horrific disgust, the yeoman seemed to favour shock.

"I think I'd be less concerned if the doctor had caused this himself," she said, raising an eyebrow in the same way so many secretly-amused doctors had watched her bedside manner with. "Not knowing exactly who did what with our equipment just makes it all that scarier." She cast a look at the back of the red service dress, then at the offending spot on the floor. "And it'd be terribly nice if we knew what that was," she added, making a face. "You alright, sweetheart? That was a grade-A wipeout you did there."

Tonia's face fell slightly as she turned a now look of horrific disgust toward the nurse. "You don't know what that is? Oh.. ew. Ew, ew, ew, ew, ew!" Already the Yeoman was trying to wipe what ever it was off with a hand. It was going to stain the dress- she knew it. "As long as its not some- NO. I am not letting my mind go there!"

When Christine mentioned the, ah, little fall, Tonia couldn't help duck her head a little hoping noone else had seen it. "I'm fine. Trust me- I've had worse. Little fall like that never hurt anyone to much before." One more glance around with green eyes caused the woman a little frown. "I was trying to finish some things for the day before the next pile of PADDs comes my way, but, do you all need any help in here?"

Christine lifted one shoulder in a shrug, agreeing wholeheartedly with Tonia's litany of 'ew's. "At this point, best I can do is guess at the liquids hanging around. It's only a matter of time before I get personally acquainted, though. And then I'll be sure to tell you exactly what's all over your butt," she added, sighing a little. Sickbay was a such a mess. And where was her staff?

She watched as Tonia looked around thoughtfully, frowned, and offered help. At least now she didn't have to try to guilt-trip her friend into sticking around to help sort through some of the mess, at least. "Considering the only person who's answered Doctor McCoy's call for medical personnel was the chef, we'll take any help we can get."

"Wait. Are you serious? Bloody hell in a handbag! Want me to reprogram their alarms to wake them up at random hours during the early AM hours just to get even?" Yes the Cajun born woman was totally not amused that noone else had shown up from medical of all places to help. Regardless of the stain now on her backside, Tonia planted her fists on her hips, setting her jaw as she did so.

"Where do I sign up at?" It was going to be a cold day if a Yeoman not trained in medical could out work the lazy.. little.. people not wanting to come down and help!

"Revenge is said to be rather sweet," Christine said, rather sardonically. A blasé expression was impossible, though, with Tonia's defiant stance. The yeoman looking just fierce enough to fit in with the often-times snarky medical crew would be a perfect addition to Christine's one-woman-clean-up team.

Setting a hand on Tonia's back - well above the unidentified mess - Christine steered her friend toward the chamber where Leonard and Tony had only just left from their own preparations. Reaching in, she grabbed the various pieces that made up a getup identical to her own. "Here you go, Ton," she said, handing it over. "Suit up!"

So the suits weren't exactly going to make it on the cover of some space age fashion magazine. Picking up the pieces like Christine was doing, and having to check to see if she was getting the right gear, she half frowned. "And they expect us to wear these with skirts? Seriously, people. You'd think we were on some hidden camera TV show."

Christine agreed: the suits weren't exactly glamorous. It's not as if the minidresses were a work of art, either, though. "Just think of the alternative," she said, crossing her arms to watch, bemused, as Tonia fought her way into the suit. "Funny looking bulky things that make your skirt ride or mysterious and potentially dangerous things all over you?"

When Tonia was ready in her suit - though looking a bit disgruntled, admittedly - Christine gave a wolf-whistle and a wink from inside her matching metallic hood. "Lookin' fine," she said, then, with a nod of her head to indicate follow me, headed back towards her bins.

When Christine wolf-whistled she tried her best to slap her friend on the arm, squeaking loud as the hood slid down obscuring her view. "I feel like one of those bobble head dolls you see sold on street corners. How do you keep things thing on and not run in to a wall or something?"

Following along behind the nurse Tonia only gave a slight glance toward where McCoy and the chef were working. Or supposed to be working.. she actually wasn't quite sure what they were doing.

The failed smack was, honestly, a thing of beauty. Christine chuckled, saying, "You don't think Starfleet Medical training is all about the medicine, do you? Being able to walk in biohazard suits is just as important as learning to read a scanner, you know."

A glance across the lab revealed the doctor and chef were… well, at least pretending to work, if nothing else. But whatever; none of her business. She gave Tonia a lesson in clean up - "you put these things where I tell you to and no one gets yelled at" - and then the girls got down to work. Well, Christine got back to work, but that was a technicality.

They hadn't been at it long when something out of the ordinary moved in Christine's peripheral vision. She whipped her head around fast enough to catch something blue and definitely not regulation move across a pile of debris. Then she blinked and it was gone. "Hey, Tonia," Christine said, her voice dropping to a whisper as she swatted at the yeoman's leg to get her attention. "Did you see that?"

Having been working a bit away from where the Nurse was at, the swatting at her leg didn't catch her attention until one forceful slap made her jump slightly. It didn't help that the helmet thing kept sliding down to the point she could hardly see. One exasperated sigh later and the yeoman was doing her best to turn toward where Christine was at, shifting the helmet a little so she could see. "What.. What, what, what?"

"I didn't see anything, Christine, other than whatever half this crap is on the floor that I am currently to terrified to wonder what it i-" Whatever Tonia was going to say next was lost as she saw something moving.. on the floor.. not to far away from them. Her jaw dropped as she moved a bit forward toward where the thing was. "What in th' world is that?"

A quip was on the tip of Christine's tongue, something about not being very attentive for someone who's ace at paperwork and menial tasks, when the … thing caught her attention again. And Tonia's.

"Hell if I know," she breathed, angling her head as if to look at Tonia but not moving her eyes from the blue thing. "You see it moving, too, right? I'm not under the influence of any mysterious hallucinogens? Because I know I don't start seeing things until at least week two of my insomniac episodes."

"No... no something is moving."

Scooting a little closer because it was fraking hard to move around in those biosuits, Tonia reached out with her right hand trying to move whatever was in the way of the thing. If they could just see what it was then maybe...

Before she could even get halfway through her actions the yeoman let out the loudest of squeals she had ever done before as the blue glob thingie made its way toward where the two girls were at. Yeoman didn't get paid enough to deal with being eaten by blue blob things!

A languid sort of skirting was one thing, but - holy hell - now the thing was practically flying at Tonia. The yeoman's squeal was no match for Christine's very determined, very loud, and very shrill, "Doctor McCoy!"

Tugging at Tonia's suit, Christine hissed, "Get back here; I don't know what that is or what it does." And then, for good measure, she added a loud "Leonard!"
