Day Fourteen, Bridge
It had been at least twenty four hours now since the security breach, and the spores that had doused the officers of the Enterprise. Turned out the god damned things were airbourne -- anyone affected who exhaled had a chance of infecting those around him or her. The medical bay was a mess. Kirk had spent as much time as he could there, attempting to do more help than harm, but he knew that when one of the nurses shoved him out, claiming that they had work to do, he finally had to take himself elsewhere. Sleep had never sounded so much like a waste of time, and Kirk found himself not wanting to face Lady Boudicca. He had stopped by Sky's room, his resolve had been wearing thin with so many women shoving themselves towards him.
Not that it had been just women. There had been a couple of men -- they were a tad bit more aggressive, and Kirk made a note to apologize to Creed for breaking one of her security ensign's noses.
The bridge was quiet. Thankfully. Kirk draped himself down in his chair, head back, the exhaustion finally catching up to him. Bacchus II glowed right ahead, and he found himself cursing the planet under his breath, hand coming up to scrub through his hair. He knew he had to look like a right mess -- he had a bruise on his right side, right where the asshole had shoved him against the wall. His jaw ached, and he moved it with one hand, cracking it loudly.
The silence had to be the nicest thing he had heard all day. Never mind that medical bay kept paging him, asking him this or that, notifying him of every new case. The beeping and comm systems only seemed to serve as a background music for the haze of his own mind, looking straight ahead with a sigh. "Kirk here. Yes. Quarantine in Sickbay." He grumbled in his response. "Barring that, take to the decon chamber in the shuttle bay."
His eyes drooped slightly, and he cursed the planet one more time before he half-drifted off to sleep.
