Instructions: List 10 different fictional characters from any fandom/s you like, number them 1 to 10 in any order you like, and don't peek at the questions until you're done. Then, answer the following questions.
1. Nathan Petrelli
2. Jack Rudolph
3. The Master
4. Svetlana Sergievsky
5. Michael Westen
6. Andromeda Tonks
7. Nor
8. River Tam
9. Natalie Hurley
10. Roger Davis
#1 Divide the list up by even and odd. Which group of five would make a better Five Man Band (like a Power Rangers team)? Who would you slot in each position: Leader, Lancer (second-in-command), Big Guy, Smart Guy, The Chick? If you think the team would be improved by swapping one character between the even and odd groups, which ones would you switch?
Even: Nathan, the Master, Michael, Nor and Natalie
Odd: Jack, Svetlana, Andromeda, River and Roger
...Evens, definitely. Although, jumping to the last question, swich Natalie for River. And then you have an unstoppable team.
Leader/Lancer: Nathan and Michael would have constant power struggles and both would consider themselves the leader. The other would roll their eyes and just listen to whoever's being smart at the moment.
Big Guy: I don't think any of them would fit there. The Master, I guess? Although he'd be pretty much kept under lock and key and River-watch.
Smart Guy: River, duh. Yeah, the Master has alien brilliance on his side, but since he wouldn't like any of them and none of them trust him, he would just scoff when asked to solve things. (And then River would pluck the answer from his brain.)
The Chick: Nor.
#2: Gender-swap 5, 8 & 10. Which character would have the most change in their story arc? Which the least? Would any of these characters have to have a complete personality change to be believable as the opposite sex?
5: Michael Westen
8: River Tam
10: Roger Davis
...Excuse me as I fall off my chair in gigglefits for a moment. Okay, back.
Roger would probably have the least change in story arc and personality. I don't think anything would need to change for him.
River -- I can imagine the general reaction and relationships with people around her(/him) would change, but as for actually story, I don't see much, as she'd still be brilliant as a he, and still get dragged off to the Academy, and Mal's still a sucker for people in trouble. Personality... probably a little shift, yes, but considering a lot of her personality throughout the show is 'crazy and brilliant'.... Not too badly.
Michael.... I don't even know. On the one hand, if the family history was exactly the same, yeah, things would probably go the same. Right down the burn notice and the destructive relationship tendancies. On the other hand, it's entirely possible his mom would not have let a daughter go off to join the army. Of course it's possible it would just mean everything got pushed back a year but -- I don't even know. All I know is this makes me giggle hysterically and oh god, I almost want to see this now.
#3: Compare the matchups of 5 & 8 and 2 & 9. (Ignore canon sexual preferences for the moment.) Which couple would be more compatible? Which couple would be more plausible to people from either principal's home culture?
5 & 8: Michael and River
2 & 9: Jack and Natalie
...I've actually had a Jack/Natalie plotbunny on the backburner for over a year, so that kind of influences my decision.
Jack and Natalie would be both more compatable and more plausible. For one thing, I ship them they're both in television, both in pretty much the same version of the world, the same time period, etc....
Also, River would creep Michael out too much. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say spies? Generally dislike little girls who can beat them up and read their mind.
#4: Your team is 3, 4 & 6. The mission consists of a social challenge, a mental challenge and a physical challenge. Which team member do you assign to each challenge?
3: The Master
4: Svetlana
6: Andromeda
Oh, gee. Hmm. Svetlana gets the social challenge, because it just-- seems fitting. Andromeda gets the physical challenge, because she's suprisingly athletic. And the Master gets the mental challenge because he's a fucking genius.
#5: 7 becomes 5's boss for a week in some plausible fashion. How's their working relationship?
7: Nor
5: Michael
....Ahahah. Michael has that whole "I protect vulnerable women" thing, so he'd probably end up basically manuvering her out of harm's way as much as possible. But Nor is tough (she got out of Southstairs, after all) and would probably suprise him with her intelligence. And they'd get along strangely well, actually. Even if he'd probably be terrible at the whole listening-to-her-as-a-boss thing. But then, Nor could probably appreciate that and happily step back. So it works.
#6: 1 finds him/her/itself inserted into 6's continuity. As far as anyone other than 1 or 6 is concerned, they've always been there. What role would 1 be presumed to have had in 6's story, and could they fit in without going wonky?
1: Nathan
6: Andromeda
--Hee. Wizard Nathan.
Ahem.
Actually, I could kind of see Nathan as being the husband. Assuming we're talking about continuity as in personal continuity. If it was more general, probably just a politician who knew about the wizarding world and understood it. But personal continuity -- they would be married. And at first it would be REALLY WEIRD, especially as Andy would want Ted back. And then they'd get used to each other. And it could actually be kind of sweet.
#7: 3 and 7 get three wishes. The catch is that they have to agree on all three wishes before they get the benefits of any of them. What three wishes would they make?
3: The Master
7: Nor
The Master hypnotises Nor into agreeing to his three wishes. The end.
Or if that's not allowed -- probably the only wish Nor would want would be to have her family back. Once she got that, she'd agree to just about anything else. Except maybe world domination. So the Master would wish for his TARDIS back, definitely. And for the second... probably the Doctor as a pet. XD
#8: 6 and 3 are brainwashed by a one-time artifact that works even on people immune to mind control to attack and kill 1. They keep their normal personality, skills and competence level, except any Code vs. Killing has been turned off. Can 1 survive? How?
6: Andromeda
3: The Master
1: Nathan
Nathan, I love you, but the Master would totally win.
Not that he really has much of anything to turn off.
#9: 1, 6, 7 & 9 must help an orphanage full of small and depressed children have a merry Christmas. Who does what, knowing that at the very least the kids will be expecting a visit from Santa?
1: Nathan
6: Andromeda
7: Nor
9: Natalie
Natalie would organize one of those big Santa-comes-a'visiting type things you always see on heartwarming Christmas episodes of sitcoms. Nathan would fund things. Andromeda would probably do subtle but helpful things with magic, to cheer the kids up. And Nor would be one of the small, depressed children being cheered up. Okay, no. She'd sit there boggling at the man in the suit and beard and wonder what this Christmas thing is.
#10: 3 and 10 are challenged to circumnavigate the Earth in eighty days or less, using only forms of transportation invented before 1900. Can they do it, or will they be fatally distracted by sidequests or their own personality conflicts?
3: The Master
10: Roger
The Master has absolutely no problem getting through it. After he kills Roger. Which he does within the first two days of the journey.
