The stars were a certainly pretty dramatic background for the proceedings. They were bright as nothing else, and the crystalline planet in the background added to the show, making welcome diversions for the senses if a speaker decided to go on too long.
Of course if you asked most people they'd say they were using the star dome for shipwide meetings because it was more open, and all the participants could hear each other instead of having to crowd onto different levels. But really, that was an ancillary reason.
Enitan, the station's aging captain, hobbled to the chalked circle at the center and commanded silence. His power cane made him wobble with each step.
Even with only a fraction of the station attending, it was still packed, leaving just enough room for everyone to sit down. There weren't enough chairs, and people's breath was fogging the dome, until engineering ran an air line with a fan in from another part of the station.
The meeting proceeded apace.

The wording of the next communique to the resistance's media contacts...though with the way the Fay'lia propaganda campaign was gaining momentum, who knew if anyone would run it?
The next was a resolution that decried polymorphic snark hunting on Xagelbrox 9, seeking to preserve the last of the noble, mutagenic creatures. Particular emphasis was given to the humanlike way they stroked the cilia of their young, and their complex, almost languagelike infra-red flashes they gave off.
After that, the flavor of brickcream to switch the softbrick machine to for the month was decided on.
Finally the meat (or tofu, for the station's many vegan Vegans) of the discussion was gotten to.
