I was raised to fear change!

I have a cold, which won't come out and be an actual cold, but won't go away either. Either that or I'm turning into an incubator for several dozen different strains - which is disturbing and I'm going to stop thinking about it ( Read more... )

We have something similar here, it's Kinder Eggs. I think if they changed the recipe there'd be riots. Cars on fire in the streets. I wish I were kidding, but it's a whole generation that ate nothing else when it came to chocolate. It's the one and only chocolate we give kids, basically.

And now I have a craving. Help.

Yes! Kinder Eggs, I'm with you there. I'm pretty sure we'd riot as well if they changed Kinder Eggs. It's like the two things you want as a child, chocolate and toys smashed together (also kinder egg chocolate is the best, I could eat it forever.)

Do you get the Kinder versions where they've turned it into a chocolate bar, and a chocolate bar with wafer in it? Usually expensive and not as good?

We have the chocolate bars, the little ones, but no wafers, thank god. But the best ones are still the eggs because then we could collect the toys! I remember I had a lot of full sets, little frogs, little piggies, they were all different and adorable. *_____*

We also have Easter Egg versions of the KInder Eggs. They're basically the same but very big. Lots and lots of chocolate, and toys that can be built. I was a teen when they started producing them, but I got one every Easter until well into my twenties.

Yeah, little bars too (often in boxes of say ten or so.) My kinder egg toys were always either little vehicles with wheels or little animals with huge grins on their faces. I think when I was a kid there were more toys that actually did things, spinning, drawing, stamping, flying, I miss those.

I have never seen anything like that, and now I'm horribly jealous. I had a big kinder egg once, I think, about the size of an open hand, but it came in a box and then I never saw one again. We also have Cadbury's Caramel eggs, which are super sickly.

I've never heard of hunts for actual eggs happening, but it's still pretty common for parents to hide easter eggs around the house and have the kids find them.

Sadly, with the rising demand for chocolate and accompanying increase in cost of cocoa there's real concern that a major shortage is near at hand. Possibly manufacturers, especially of cheaper, more popular brands, are changing recipes to compensate?

I have heard about the chocolate shortage looming on the horizon. Honestly I wouldn't mind paying more for my chocolate rather than having it basically made of oils, fats and sugar. Some chocolates have already gone too far that way and have the consistency of wax!
