Podcasts still make the commute and work easier. I still only listen to Bill Simmons and Adam Carolla. That's up to 90 minutes a day, and I really don't need any more than that.
Poker is still a once a week thing, and stock club is once a month. Light gambling on football Poker is more fun, but stocks seem to have similar aspects. If you more or less know what you're doing, you'll probably break even or grind out a small profit. If you have a good knack for knowing the right spots to go against the grain, you can do well.
To that end, tease the Giants to any bet this weekend for a free 6 point move of the line. And parlay the Eagles and the over. Andy Reid's M.O. is to stomp the living shit out of weak teams, especially at home, and especially in the first half of the season. The Igs never have Milton Berle games.
Stocks, otoh, I don't know too well. So the club is for education. I'm told that essentially the club doesn't outperform the market too well. They're more of a supper club that invests than an investment club that eats, as they like to say. My inclusion drops the average age by 5 years. They're mostly rich old Jews. I say that casting my lot with them while I learn the ropes ain't a bad play. I think I'm going to supplement this by maybe talking my uncle into a once a month dinner to discuss it. This could work. Anyways, for 1600 reasons I need to learn to invest.
The Skins are the worst 2-2 team on the planet, but I'm geared up for the most serious Cup run in my lifetime. Half glass full: The Caps are awesome, Ovechkin is going nuts even by Ovie standards (9 pts in the first 3 games!?!?!! are you kidding me?). Varly's GAA is worrisome. He needs to iron that shit out so he can be this generation's Patrick Roy. Theodore has looked better so far. Hopefully he'll play with a fire under his hiney all year.
Lady Ensign and I are planning to go to New Orleans for Christmas. Should be fun. Geographically, the closest I've ever come to New Orleans is Atlanta.
New carpetting is coming for the basement. I'll have a fully repaired manclave, but it won't be for another 3 weeks as there were delays in ordering the carpeting itself. Boooooo.
