Staring at the screen, I sit with blurred eyes. It's hard to decipher the names rising above the blackness, and in all honesty, I have no desire to. The sound of children singing warms my soul.
I am a promise, I am a possibility
I am a promise, with a capital "P"
I am a great big bundle of potentiality
My heart begins to melt like a candle, only to solidify at the tips of my toes. Full of joy and hope and innocence, I listen to the children sing a song most of them will never really know.
I wish I could give them hope. I wish I could show them that they can achieve. I wish I could give them the love they probably don't get at home. I don't want to just become a teacher. I want to become a facilitator, a mentor to foster and further the natural dreams and aspirations of every child, regardless of color.
I want to change the world by changing their world.
