Wow
I saw There Will Be Blood with my lovely co-workers Jonathan and Diane on Wednesday and I was very pleased. I went into it knowing little to nothing about it which is unusual in this age of information saturation and it was refreshing. I did know that it was based on Upton Sinclair’s book Oil! and that Daniel Day-Lewis was in it, both of which I had no strong opinion on. The only other thing I knew about it was the guy that works at the coffeshop across the street randomly mentioned he thought it was great.
I have to say I loved this film. The story, acting, directing, as well as overall the look of the film were very well done and the score is simply amazing. The score was like a character in the movie and I think the way the film and score interacted was my favorite aspect to it all. I was very surprised to find out that it was Johnny Greenwood that was responsible for it. He is what makes Radiohead as interesting as they are and I was happy to see his talents go beyond that.
I highly recommend this movie!
