imagined ending scene for Kyou Kara Maou

Feb 18, 2006 19:30

Downloaded and watched 2 Kyou Kara Maou episodes: Episode 77 & Episode 61 (sub). Both were great ~ a whole lot of stuff happened in Episode 77--way too much for me to describe since _miyuchan_ already did such a good job at summarizing the episode here. I highly recommend _miyuchan_'s summaries--they are always full of good detail and there are always fun comments too.

Over at kyou_kara_maou we've been discussing how we think the series is going to finish up--Episode 78 is the last one of the Anime *many tears*--and the one thing we seem to know is that Yuuri is going to kill Shinou with Morgif--although exactly how Yuuri is going to manage this, considering that Shinou is currently possessing Yuuri and hence inside his body, will be very interesting to see.

The discussion thread is here.

The rough translation of Episode 78's title is "To the day we'll meet again" which can mean a lot of things. The most prevalent, and pessimistic, thought is that Yuuri is going to choose to go back to Earth and leave Shin Makoku, possibly forgetting all about Shin Makoku too.

Me, I am an optimist and that ending just doesn't fit with the mood of the series. Now that I have watched Episode 77, I am more decided that "To the day we'll meet again" isn't going to mean "Til the day when we are reincarnated again" ~ everything in Kyou Kara Maou can be very literal sometimes and I think that this is one of those times.

In the preview for the next episode, you see Murata in his school uniform--the blue double-breasted blazer, not his black Sage outfit--and he is waving at whoever's point-of-view it is and smiling--not his "I'm-hiding-something" smile or his "I'm-smiling-because-I'm-an-idiot-smile" ~ which is when his true teenage-self comes out and he becomes the geeky school kid again--but actually a happy smile, like a huge burden has been lifted from his shoulders and it has been because he has managed to finally free Shinou's soul from Soushi's hold.

So Murata is truly happy when he is waving, so the parting can't be too tragic

however, since Shinou disappeared, the way from Shin Makoku to earth is starting to close.

Ah, but where had Shinou disappeared to? If he has been reborn--as he should have been right along side the rest of the founders of Shin Makoku--it is only a matter of time before he returns and the way to earth can be re-opened again. Yuuri might have killed 'Shinou', but considering that he wasn't really alive to begin with--Shinou has been a disembodied soul for 4000 years now--what exactly does Yuuri killing Shinou entail?

Hopefully *crosses fingers* what Yuuri does is destroy Soushi and thereby releases Shinou's soul--after all, from what I can tell, the only reason Shinou's soul was sealed was in order to contain Soushi--the soul hitchhiker--until he could be properly dealt with. Once Soushi is dealt with, Shinou's soul, which is no longer contained in its seal in the temple--since I'm pretty sure 'Yuuri' destroyed the entire temple when he and Murata left it - I think that was the big boom--and also won't be possessing Yuuri at that point, will naturally move on to where it is meant to be next.

I still think Shinou should be reborn as Jennifer's daughter ~ lol!

But seriously, I bet that Murata is off to track Shinou down, where ever he ended up, and he's going to start looking on Earth. I think that once Yuuri makes his decision--which I am almost positive that it will be to stay in Shin Makoku--Murata is going to tell him that he is going to return to Earth with Shouri, to make sure Yuuri's big brother gets back safe and sound, and also help get Shouri set up as the Maou of Earth, since he did such a good job of it with Yuuri. Then that's Wolfram's cue to yell that he better haven't been spending too much time with his cheating fiancé and Yuuri yells back at Wolfram that he isn't a cheater.

Then Murata will make some enigmatic comment like,
"Just because Shinou isn't here right now doesn't mean that he won't be here again," and then when Yuuri acts all shocked about Shinou not being destroyed--like he thought--add some smart-ass comment about, "I know you have your self-confidence back Shibuya--"
[[Hey, how do you know about that?!]] indignant squawk from Yuuri, with a condescending smile from Murata the only acknowledgement of him hearing Yuuri, "--but did you really think you were strong enough to entirely destroy the founding father of Shin Makoku's soul while simultaneously destroying the greatest evil of this or any other world? Really, Shibuya!" And the last part would be in his Yuuri-scolding-don't-be-so-stupid-voice.

And Yuuri would look bashful at thinking too much of himself before paling a little and repeating slowly, "'Greatest evil of this or any other world.' What do you mean other world? Do you mean Earth?!" panicking slightly, "I have to go back now--Mom, Dad--"

"Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha..." sheepish laugh from Murata and Shouri giving Murata an evil glare before grabbing Yuuri by the shoulders, shaking him a until Yuuri tells him to stop. Then, I think Shouri is going to do what he is there to do--Murata knew that Yuuri would have to make a choice between staying in Shin Makoku and returning to Earth after dealing with Shinou/Soushi and having Shouri there would mean the difference between Yuuri choosing to stay or go.

Shouri will tell his brother, in a no-nonsense and don't-you-dare-disagree-with-me tone, that he, as the eldest brother, will make sure that their parents are safe and, as the next Earth Maou, will keep Earth safe. And that Yuuri's responsibility, as the younger brother, is to listen to his elder brother and stay right where he is--where Yuuri is needed.

Then Shouri would have to make a dig at the Mazoku by saying, "If you were to go with me, who would be in charge? Well, I guess it wouldn't really matter who, because they all have the same solution to every problem--their swords. There might be peace right now, but do you think it will stay this way?" And Yuuri would naively nod yes and then Shouri would probably cuff him upside the head. "It was rhetorical, Yuu-chan. No, it won't. Didn't you tell me that you have treaties with some of the human territories, Conrad, and that they only reason they were all in the alliance was because of Yuuri? What would happen if Yuuri wasn't Maou anymore? Would you still have the treaties?"

Conrad wouldn't answer; Gunter and Gwendal probably wouldn't either, but Wolf wouldn't have any problem telling the truth, "The moment that they hear the wimp is gone, half will leave the alliance immediately, Belal will probably declare open war and attack as soon as possible, and who knows what will happen to Shin Makoku if both Shinou and the Maou disappear at the same time--we'll have no one to rule, no one with the authority to rule and with Shinou gone, who will decide who the next Maou will be? Not the Sage, because he will be abandoning us right along side the wimp." Crosses arms and huffs, throwing his hair aside. Yuuri would get upset and then look to Conrad and Gwendal to tell him that that isn't what would happen and they would both nod.

Yuuri would shake his head then, stammering that he isn't anyone special, that anyone could be Maou if he could be. "But I'm nobody--I'm not special--Shinou said that no one would care about me if I wasn't Maou. I'm just an ordinary kid who plays baseball--no one special."

Then Murata would mutter something like, "Ahhhhh, he would say something like that," and shake his head. At the same time, everyone else would object loudly to Yuuri's statement:

Gunter: "But Heika, you are special---"

Conrad: "Heik--Yuuri, he was wrong, you could never be ordinary---Yosak, Wolfram!"

Gwendal: shaking head, "Heika, you are far from ordinary--I can honestly say that I have never met another person like you."

Adlebert: grumbling, "Boyo, somehow you've gotten me to care about you and you being Maou has nothing to do with it."

Shouri: "What does it matter what he said to you, Yuuri? He possessed you! Who cares what he said!" and then throws up his hands in frustration.

Yosak: "Kiddo, you are definitely no ordinary kid. Your fiancé, on the other hand, typical kid: spoiled rotten--"

Wolfram: "Nonsense Yuuri, you are my fiancé, so you have to be special--I am not spoiled!"
Morgif would hoot at Yuuri, as if to say that he doesn't get all pretty like he is for just anyone.

Hube: respectfully, "Heika, you pardoned me--you allowed me to see my baby girl be born--you saved Nicola. Those are not the acts of an ordinary man."

Murata: waiting a little until everyone else has commented and adds, "I know a little girl who would disagree Shibuya." Everyone would turn to look at him and he would just grin in response, light reflecting off his glasses. "I do believe that Greta does not care if you are the Maou or the ordinary-nobody Shibuya Yuuri--you are her father either way. True, you would not have met if you were not the Maou, but I think the fact that you met when she tried to kill you and you subsequently adopted her says how truly unique you are Shibuya."

Then Shouri would digest exactly what Murata has said and freaks. "Wait, your daughter tried to kill you?! And you decided to then adopt her? Why?!" Turn to Conrad, "How could you let this happen? You are supposed to protect him and instead you let him adopt his assassin?"

The Murata would just cause more trouble. "Oh, you didn't know that, onii-san? Adlebert here tried to kill Shibuya numerous times, kidnapped him quite often also. Giegen Huber also tried to kill Shibuya when they first met and then again after he had been brought back to the castle and healed, on the Maou's orders. Sir von Belfield, after Yuuri proposed to him, was so upset that he demanded a duel--Shibuya had to defeat him three times before he conceded the loss and accepted the proposal. The way I hear it, von Belfield tried to make Maou flambé."

Off of Shouri's confused look, someone would explain, "Where you and Heika use water Majitsu, Wolfram uses fire Majitsu."

"WHAT! Yuu-chan, tell me this isn't true." Yuuri would just look away and Shouri would explode. "Are you insane?! These people--they try to kill you and you decide to make them your new friends? Mom's special brand of insanity must have rubbed off on you--maybe I shouldn't have let her put you in all the dresses when you were young--but you were really too cute in them and you liked wearing the dresses and putting your hair up, so I thought no harm in it. Maybe Dad was right--" Yuuri would have made it out of shock enough to slap his hand across Shouri's mouth to shut him up.

"Shouri!" Cheeks red, Yuuri would say hushed, "It's bad enough that Mom showed Wolfram the pictures, but do you have to tell everyone!" Then indignant as something Shouri said registered, "And what do you mean I liked it?! I did not!" Then cross arms over his chest, turning away and right into Wolfram.

"Your mom dressed you up to?" Wolfram would ask thoughtfully. "I thought it was just mother and her little idiosyncrasies, but if yours did it also...hmmm..."

Conrad would be trying not to smile and simply ask, "Pictures?"

Yosak would be grinning like a Cheshire cat. "No wonder you get along so well with the spoiled brat. You did look cute in that maid uniform..."

Murata politely enquiring with a small smile, "Maid Uniform?"

Yuuri would whirl around and point at Murata with a red face, "You--be quiet! You've said enough already--why did you tell Shouri all those things? I thought you wanted me to stay--now he'll never leave me here. Now he thinks I'm crazy." Waving his hands around, gesturing wildly in Shouri's general direction.

Murata would then give Yuuri his superior-smirk and Yuuri's eyes would go wide and start pointing at him again. "You--You did that on purpose!! Why?"

"I know this one," Yosak would say in a sing-song voice.

Murata turns relieved to Yosak and pleads slightly, "Good. Could you kindly explain it to both Shibuyas' before they decide to drown me."

"No problem, Geika," winking at Murata and then turning to face Yuuri. "Heika, listen. Shouri-sama, why do you think your brother is insane now?"

Glaring at Yosak. "Because no one sane would ever adopt someone who tried to kill them."

"But why is such an act not sane?"

Darker glare. "Because no normal person would trust an assassin sent to kill them."

"No one sent Greta, she came on her own."

"So much better then! An assassin with motive to kill you. Yuuri, how can you..." Then Shouri would realize exactly what he just told Yosak and laugh. "Clever, Murata Ken."

"What?" Yuuri would totally be confused now.

Wolfram would huff and turn to Yuuri. "You said that Shinou told you that you are ordinary--a nobody, right? No one special." Dumb nod and a snort in response. "Well, an ordinary person, when confronted with someone who tries to kill them, does not then stow them away in a suitcase and bring them on a boat so that he can hear her story. A normal person lets the assassin be interrogated and then executed for the assassination attempt, even if she is a cute little girl. A normal person does not propose to someone they have just met. [[Hey, I tried to explain that...]] A normal person does not bring an exiled fugitive back to the castle to be healed after the fugitive has tried to kill the normal person--he leaves the fugitive to die of the injuries the fugitive sustained when his guards defend him from the assassination attempt. A normal person does not beg his fiancé to heal the fugitive and now assassin. Do you get it now? All these stupid things you do just proves that you are anything but ordinary--normal people just don't do the things you do Yuuri. They don't trust everyone they meet like you do." He catches Yuuri's eyes and stares into them as he continues, "An ordinary person could never have achieved the alliance with the human countries like you did. An ordinary person would have went to war because it is simpler and easier than insisting on peace. A normal person, when confronted with strange, man-sized cocoons, does not insist on loving them because then they will have to return the love. Do you understand? A wimp like you couldn't even pretend to be 'normal' if you tried."

Yuuri's mouth moves open and closed, not making a sound. Yosak throws an arm around Yuuri, hugging his shoulder. "It's ok kiddo, we wouldn't love you so much if you were ordinary. Well, the spoiled brat might...but then he wouldn't get to boss you around like he does now."

Needless to say, they would totally convince Yuuri that he is truly unique and that Shin Makoku would be in ruins very soon if he did not stay. Shouri and Murata would leave, but not before Murata telling Yuuri to keep an eye out for Shinou.

"He's bound to turn up sooner or later. If he is on Earth, I'll find him--or more accurately, he'll find me. If he's here somewhere, his memories should start resurfacing in about 5 or 6 years and he'll come to you. Either way, I'm going to keep in contact with Ulrike, so when he does find us, we'll reopen the passage. Until then Shibuya, I will look forward to the day we'll meet again."

"The same for me Yuu-chan," Shouri says while messing up his hair. "Behave yourself until I can come back--I'll be able to protect you by then."

"I don't need your protection--I can protect myself. I am no longer a child!"

"But you are still my little brother and always will be. Prove me wrong then--protect yourself, your country and my niece. If you don't, I'll have to tell mom that she has her first grandchild already. I bet she would find find a way to yell at you--path or no path."

"That's cheating."

Shouri grins wide. "Yup. I'm the oldest, so it's ok." Then hugs Yuuri and Yuuri akwardly hugs back. "Stay safe Yuu-chan."

"You too nii-chan," Yuuri says quietly and then pulls away quickly. "Tell mom and dad that I'm good and that I'll find a way back eventually. And Murata--I'm glad that it worked--even though I am still mad, I'm glad too."

The real smile again from Murata. "Me too. I think, even if I never see him again, I'm happy for him. He's had to fight for 4000 years. He deserves a break."

"You do too."

"Why do you think I'm leaving? I'm going to go back to being Murata Ken, geeky school kid, and at least graduate from high school. I think I am truly going to enjoy growing up without constantly worrying about him--about how he is fairing against Soushi--and how his sanity is holding up. I think I am going to like having to worry just about me for a change--well, me and mama-san. I'll have to keep her company."

"Go ahead, you seem to really like that apron, after all," and Yuuri grimaces. Shouri and Murata leave with the promise that each side will continue to look for new ways to reopen the way while still living. I think that Anissana and Gwendal would make great parents to the reincarnated Shinou--Anissana could raise a little female hellion version of herself, but with Gwendal's glare and Wolfram's prim Donna attitude, to terrorize all of Shin Makoku.

Last thought: now that Shinou trashed his temple, what is Ulrike going to do? Maybe she could go with Murata and Shouri to Earth.

Tired--bedtime.
