In Pictures: Thai Protests The BBC's feature that gives you pictures of an event just had a bit about the protests by thousands of Thai people against their Prime Minister, which I was calmly, dispassionately reading just now.
Although I highly enjoyed the fifth one, of their Prime Minister with a Hitler moustache, I was most amused by the guy in picture ten who's wearing a D.A.R.E. t-shirt! The exact same kind that all of us (who grew up in North Wilmington) got in 5th grade!
Crazy! But, I guess that's about the right amount of time, if American children were getting black D.A.R.E. t-shirts eleven years ago, for one of us lucky drug-educated citizens to grow up, go to college, take a backpacking trip to Thailand, run out of money, sell the shirt off his back, call his mom in tears, get money wired to him, fly home, and get back to school on time. And also plenty of time for the shirt to find it`s way into a Thai second hand store, sit on the racks for at least a year (we`re running out of years here), finally be bought by this activist guy, doing a little slumming in the tourist district, and then be worn to this protest.
Now the question is, does the guy do drugs?
And furthermore, does he understand the irony if he does?
