Another update on books
Since the last post on this topic, and bearing in mind I bought most of these the month before last, here are my latest readings:
8. The House of Night: Marked, PC and Kristin Cast
This book is almost like deja-vu, Harry Potter mixed with Twilight and some sort of teenage American Pie. It's just odd and considering I loved Harry Potter (up until the book 7 non-sense at least), I love the driving passion behind Twilight and I had a good laugh or two with American Pie, I don't know how I feel so bland about this book. It just didn't connect with me in a satisfactory emotional way. I'm not sure I'll bother with the rest of the series.
9. Hush, Hush, Becca Fitzpatrick
I loved this one! Yes, it's absolute teenage paranormal stuff, but I'm not ashamed! I can't really put it down in words but there's some serious "energy string" pulling through this book - I couldn't put it down!
10. Fallen, Lauren Kate
The main plot point is too similar to the book above, so it's impossible to pull away from that. It pales in comparison, but has its moments. And it might just have the best prologue ever. (Too bad the rest of the book doesn't follow suit.)
11. Immortals After Dark: A Hunger Like No Other, Kresley Cole
HOT sexy stuff. Who cares about the plot? But the plot is good too. And have I mentioned HOT, sexy werewolf?
12. Dracula, Bram Stoker
I've seen the movies, but I had not yet read the classic. Good stuff, very well structured and driven. And whoever said No one filmed it quite like Bram Stoker wrote it is true.
13. Dark Hunter: Fantasy Lover, Sherrilyn Kenyon
I finished this one too quickly. And not in a good way. It was too shallow for my liking. Hot stuff in there, but I'm happy I didn't pay for this one!
14. Mercy Thompson series: Moon Called, Patricia Briggs
It's a very good start for a series. I can't praise this one enough, so just go read it if you like urban fantasy and haven't done it yet!
15. Wicked Years: A Lion Among Men, Gregory Maguire
Another great book by Gregory Maguire. It's mature and deep, satiric and fun... I hope there's something else planned in this series!
