Title: a stroll along the beach
Author: Lilly
Characters: Kate, Jack, mentions of Locke, Sayid and Juliet
Words: Nearly 300
A/N: One of the many plot bunnies that plague me during exams!time. Only this one demanded special attention, so I had to write it down on my new shiny PDA (*pets the little thing*). Hence why so short (it's a pain to write on the cute little thing! *lol*)
[Hers]
And when you try so hard...
...just to find he doesn't need rescue.
You can't believe how you led locke and
sayid on the wrong track but you needed
to do this alone. You promised to stay
behind, waiting for their return, but now
your feet take you over a not unfamiliar
path. You start to slow down when you reach
the borders of their small village, trying
to go unnoticed, disguised in the landscape.
Nothing had prepared you for what you see.
Him. Holding her hand. Walking side by side,
giggling and happy as newlyweds. You're still
staring at the couple when locke reaches you,
he's a great tracker and he's starting to
learn you. You're becoming predictable.
You do what you know best and you run.
You had a chance. You let it pass.
[His]
It's just like when you used to play...
...and you got a get out of jail card
You don't know how long has passed. You
don't understand why you were given this
opportunity. But you hold her hand and smile,
like nothing else would please you more. You
walk through different paths, you listen to
her saying who lives where and you try to
memorise like you care. She leaves you at the
door of your new home. You kiss her goodbye.
But at night she isn't the one in your dreams,
and troubled memories of your past mingle
with hopes broken not so far ago and you
wander if you can make this work.
Maybe someday you will run.
You still believe there is a chance.
