So... Eragon - The Movie

Jan 12, 2007 23:11

Celebrating the end of my go-to-school-every-day-but-act-like-I'm-on-holidays week, I went to see Eragon.

Big mistake. I won't write a full review because I'm sure someone has already appointed all the mistakes this movie bears in a much decent English than I'd be able to provide, so I'll just be my sarcastic self bringing you a few notes:

1. Did the writer/director/producer really read the book, or is he in high school and just read the "essentials of Eragon - pass your eams without studying" version?
2. We all know and love LOTR, that's why the majority of us owns the books, dvds, extended edition dvds, etc., we needn't pay 5€ to see a crapy version of it in a big screen! (and yes, I'm refering to the "view from above of great landscapes" shots, the very Minas tirith/Helm's Deep look of the town of the Varden, the enemies - Saruman's "Leave none alive" to Galbatorix's "Leave no one alive", the urgals orcs, the elves and the dwarves... at least Eragon didn't look like Aragon, I'll give them that - although it wasn't a tough one to get right).
3. I was just waiting for Eragon to ask Arya in marriage at the end. Seriously.

Although not everything was bad, I really liked the soundtrack! (But I love soundtracks, mainly orchestral ones). Jeremy Irons performance was good, and among everything else, although the boy Eragon was very different from what I've always pictured in my mind, he wasn't that bad.
