I'm never sure why 3 a.m. brings the sudden urge to do random things. Like emailing people I have no real urge to speak to in the daytime, or facebook messaging my best friend from 6th grade, or making up silly questions to post on askmetafilter.com. So instead I post to my facebook with amusing or not so amusing things that have happened in the last few weeks:
(1) The paranoid schizophrenic I sat in front of on the bus ride home. Also slightly sad, but mostly funny. Did you know that the last person who calls your house at night can hear everything that happens at your house during the night? Me neither.
(2) Meeting up with said best friend from 6th grade in the bus terminal. Literally haven't seen her since I was 11, and yet we both recognized each other. Awkward (but funny) conversation ensues. Reed is MUCH LARGER than the last time she saw him.
(3) Birthday presents: A blender, and alcohol. Perfect.
(4) I quit my job. Yay!!
(5) I have no steady source of income. Boo.
(6) I am officially fully funded for grad school.
(7) I KICK ASS at board-game style Age of Empires III (I think it was III).
(8) Blood pressure war reveals that I have the best blood pressure in the family! (Blood pressure readings thanks to Dad's blood pressure machine. $30, Wal Mart)
(9) HP5 was decent. Not quite enough Fred and George, but it'll do. Still think movie-Hermione is annoying. Am especially weirded out by pictures of Daniel Radcliffe that are floating around the internet (in a leather biking vest? With goatee? WHAT?).
(10) Slowly acclimating to a world in which I see men everyday. At least I no longer spend whole moments lost in "Is that really a boy?" thoughts. During which, yes, I do check for a package.
(11) Family gatherings: board games, doctor talk, and spaghetti warehouse. Oh, and don't forget mom and dad buying toys and/or furniture "for the grandkids" or "when you all have partners". Need I mention that they don't HAVE any grandkids, and only one has a partner (unless you count my cat. As a kid or a partner, you pick.)?
(12) Reed: "We could bury it."
(13) And last, but not least, I got WAY too excited while I was home over the stuff my Mom decided to give me for my non-existent classroom. Felt board pieces? Alphabet carpet squares? Letter stencils? Hell yes!
In any case, it all adds up to a lazy content summer of watching Babylon 5 DVDs and eating sushi and going to the chiropractor who is conveniently located 10 minutes down the road. And looking damn cute in my new skirt.
