I can barely stand FB at the moment. I think my problem is that I read comments. Not only do I get a feed full of the same moral outrages as you, but I get all the Aussie stuff too. At the moment my feed is full of Cecil, and arguments about racism towards an indigenous Aussie rules footballer.
I dunno, I don't feel the need to voice my opinion too often on FB. If you only knew me through Facebook I think you'd have a difficult time figuring out where I stand on anything. In conversation I'll tell you exactly what I think about anything. I just don't think text is a form in which we should have passionate debate. Aside from people being more brutal behind a keyboard, I have difficulty with the lack of tone to set context. Too easy to misconstrue what has been said.
Yes, all of these issues matter. Individually, make a difference. Go about your life just doing. Be a positive example. It's far more effective. There's not enough room on each bandwagon for all of us and there are plenty of bandwagons to get on, so let's spread it out a bit. If online we could focus on what we're passionate about we can spread a lot more information.
At the moment I'm struggling with Perths latest outrage on a personal level. I posted it here because this is where I go when I need to say something and don't want to deal with every man and his dog chiming in. Sometimes I'm really not looking for opinions, just an ear. Facebook is the last place to go for that.
