I still think I like IM3 a little better, but only because a) Tony, and b) I thought they did an excellent job dealing with PTSD, and I was wildly impressed. (Oh, and I loved the last scene, because reasons.) But man, Thor 2 was amazing. I will definitely be watching it again.
Your points are exactly why I'm still leaning towards IM3 still being my preferred one. (I also love how much Rhodey got to be a part of it.) There was just so much wrong and frustrating with IM3 that marks it down in terms of enjoyment for me. (And the Mandarin. I was like WTF? and turned to my roommate in the theatre.)
I liked what they did with the Mandarin, although I know a lot of people didn't. I liked how they played with expectations, and stereotypes, and avoided making the Mandarin a racist caricature, but YMMV.
I'm sort of with copperbadge on the Mandarin thing. And I do have mixed feelings about it. But the Mandarin is such an epic villain for IM and, well, the 10 alien rings thing?
Also I'm more hrmmm... about the adaptation of Extremis. At least they're building on it a little more in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. I can go with it being simplified in the MCU, but where I get hung up is the implication that Pepper is "cured" (magic hand waving!!!) and Tony's not affected by it beyond being able to get rid of the arc reactor.
(omg we won't get into my issues with blowing all those suits - which I don't believe he hit all of them anyway - and the magical disappearing RT.)
