The USC regional mock trial tournament is over and 1st Place thru 8th Place were won by a combination of UCLA and USC entries. I believe a team from Claremont-McKenna took 9th Place. But the important thing is that in 10th place was UCSD team number 920, a team which I'm a member of. What does that mean for me? Well, 10th Place is the last place ( Read more... )

"My mom will always be my mom and my dad has always been difficult to figure out and communicate with..."

That's exactly what I said. But I've come to realize that my parents can't always be there for me, as much as I want them to, in the ways that I want them to be there. When you go home, be grateful that you can put your arms around two people who love you and realize that they're trying their hardest. Thinking "one day it'll all end" will put an end to your longing to be back at your San Diego apartment...trust me. My mom would want me to spend the night in her hotel room when she visited, and I would always want to stay at school. Now, I'm happy I always gave in and went with her... Same with the independence issue. It got to the point where my mom was too proud not to get involved with my life, and we'd joke about how much she tried to interfere. I miss it.

"Personally, I find it naive for these military officers to think that they can send college students to New Orleans during Mardi Gras and expect us to stay sober."

You forgot to mention how the spoken rule for drinking was "Don't let me see you drunk." In other words, "If you're drinking, don't act drunk around me, and don't mention it." So they explicitly renounced it while implicitly condoning it...you know what I mean?

Oh!

CONGRATULATIONS ON PLACING 10TH FOR MOCK TRIAL!!!!!

It's great hearing from you Ashley. Concerning that PRB, Capt. Boccolucci might have been implicitly condoning the drinking, but all the other officers weren't. I mean, Brusca, Arleano, and Pittner were very upset that we didn't stay sober. And I've decided that I don't like LT Brusca very much. I thought he was the meanest officer at that PRB and my other experiences with Brusca has made me perceive him as an uneccesarily very rude person. Maybe he just doesn't like Midshipmen.
