I did a photoshoot at WildCare, an organization that saves injured wild animals in the Bay Area, and it was so interesting. Some of the shots are really incredible. One of a baby squirrel with a neck injury. In one shot it is drinking milk from a tiny syringe, in another it is sleeping in the palm of the nurse, post meal. Another shot of a pigeon getting treatment for a wound from a hawk talon. I really want to take more photos there- it was an assignment for the paper, but I want to volunteer time there and document their work- informing the public of hazards in our environment to wild animals and raising visibility of their work. I'll be posting the shots on Flickr this weekend. I'll put a link here once they're up.
Also, in other animal-related news, I'm going to see Animal Collective at the Fillmore on Monday. I obtained a ticket to the sold out show on Craigslist. And the guy I bought it from is a graphic designer at the ad firm I've been wanting to work for.
Last night I photographed the rehearsal dinner of a sorority girl and fraternity boy where lots of really embarrassing stories were told in the form of toasts, stories reminding me (in a very tangential way) of the movie Animal House. Just to tie in the animal theme today.
