Unfortunately, if I have my eye and dentist appointments done in Butler, my County of York healthcare won't cover it---I'm only covered in this County (as far as I know...I think medical I can go outside of York, but only to neighboring counties)
Sooooo....since I already get money taken out of my paycheck for my healthcare here, it seemed like a good idea to use it. I had no idea this place would be this backwards and hard to work with! Honestly, I figured since it was more populated, that I'd get BETTER services here, but I guess I just can't beat Butler's proximity to Pittsburgh and all of the medical technology there. :(
MY suggestion to you, since you have no healthcare, is to get online and see if you can get some. Even if it only pays a portion of your visits, it'd be worth it because it can get expensive, fast. A friend of mine who is going to school and working part time pays for her own and it's $80 a month. Her co-pays are high, but its cheaper than if she didn't have any insurance at all. I'm pretty sure if you typed in "healthcare for the uninsured" or "affordable individual healthcare" into yahoo or google you'd get some hits.
No one will cover me because I have preexisting conditions. We've tried every company you've heard of, plus some that you probably haven't. One company agreed to insure me for over $500/month with sucky co-pays. it just wasn't worth that much. apparently heart problems are a "serious" preexisting condition. i'm risky. risky business.
No offenses taken, I've been in a similar situation. But seriously, what about just looking for a "temporary" type job but one with benefits? I know you've probably thought of it, but it may be worth even more of a shot if you need to go to the doc.
