I finally had a free evening so I could update and check my email and do all of my internet stuff---ahhhh..it feels good :)
Finishing up some loose ends from my last post (Geeze, it's already been 11 days since I posted!)....I got my car fixed. $738.83.
I got: a new timing belt kit, a new belt tensioner to replace the one some dickfore broke the bolt off of awhile back, a water pump, and an air conditioner recharge. Not bad considering the Mitsu dealer out here wanted $950 JUST for the water pump and timing belt.
I drove about 100 miles this past week, just because it was nice to drive and because I get better gas mileage than Dave's Blazer. But frankly, with gas at $2.55 a gallon....I don't want to go anywhere I don't have to. No useless trips to Target or Walmart, and no drives just for the heck of it. I can't friggin' afford it. And I am SO FREAKING GLAD I am walking to work. I'd never be able to afford to drive across town everyday at these prices. Insanity. I feel bad for people who commute a long way. Dave's friend Matt drives 75 miles a day. *wince* That's GOT to hurt.
I have been approved to have September 30th off, so I think Dave and I are going to Ocean City (granted if gas keeps going up 10 cents every 3 days we'll have to think long and hard about it because of the gas to get there).
We haven't made reservations yet, but we've got plenty of time.
Not much else is new...I am still paying major bills so I don't really have much disposeable income yet...so things are pretty down-low here. I am thinking about setting up a Roth IRA, but I am very bad at financial things, so I need to do some research first. But I figure, even if I can put like, $30 a month away...at least it's SOMETHING. We'll see. I hear good things about Roth IRA.
I'm going home September 2nd for a doctor's appointment at AGH.
I'd love to see linds and amie, but my family kind of attacks and won't let me go when I'm home---and it seems like I'm never home very long. I'm only home Thursday night--LATE-- until Sunday afternoon...so there's not much time.
Sooner or later I'd like to see you ladies though :(
Oh...anyone looking for a quick and easy and ADDICTIVE recipe....
go to foodnetwork.com and get Rachel Ray's mexican lasagna recipe. I had it with Dan and Julie last weekend and liked it so much I made it this week. It makes a ton of food, the leftovers are to die for, and you can make it "relatively" healthy. I used ground turkey (or chicken) instead of beef, lowfat cheese, and wheat tortillas and it wasn't too bad...but it was SO DELICIOUS.
Oh..and if ya do make it---you do NOT need 2 pounds of ground meat like the recipe says. 1 is PLENTY.
That's all for now :)
