i feel so much better now, having said it out loud.
and let me just say this: it doesn't get better with every viewing. i thought it might, and really? no. because at the end of it, wash is still REALLY DEAD. IMPALED. WAH.
my theory for future firefly movies: washbot. c'mon. they have the technology!! they can rebuild him.
the movie, of course, does get better with every viewing, although there are still some parts of the dialogue that strike me as odd.
i always get just a little choked up when mr. universe breaks the glass in the commitment ceremony video. i mean, he dragged himself all the way over there to die! also to make the recording thing, but to die! that's commitment, man. and i cry like a big ol crying thing every. single. time. river gives her little speech and runs to save the day. it's like frodo and sam and the FRICKIN boat.
sue me. i'm a sap. ARGH. DAMN YOU JOSS WHEDON.
random observations:
- so, do you think joss has an obsession with animatronics / robotics / androids who dream of electric sheep?
- i wonder if the lovebot converted.
- ...was i the only one who thought of darth vader's pod/shuttle escape in star wars with the operative's pod/shuttle escape? if i was, shame on you, fandom. shame on you! :P
- i have seen this movie like... a lot of times. and i still don't know why the freakin blast doors do not shut all the way at the end. i mean, I KNOW why they don't shut, but were they just mechanically unsound? did i miss something?
- i am sad that they didn't bring badger back. fanty and mingo were cool, but they weren't badger.
- i get why joss did it, but the "honey, baby" stuff between wash and zoe still bothers me.
