[Set in the Gorgeous!verse. Sam isn’t binding on any Sam (yet because Emily is fighting the rather strong urge to pick him up). Michael =

“Well, clearly the situation is less than ideal,” Bela replied, before crossing her arms in front of her chest.
“Less than ideal? Bela, he’s practically suicidal.” Sam sat back against the chair, and gave her a look as he took a sip of his beer. “Don’t tell me you don’t see it.”
“You’d have to be an idiot not to see it,” Bela sighed as she crossed her legs under the table. Sam had called her and asked her to have lunch with him, but she wasn’t expecting it to be a ‘what to do about Michael?’ session. Dropping her head to the side slightly, she gave him a look as she raised an eyebrow. “But I don’t know what you expect me to do about it.”
“He listens to you, doesn’t he?”
“He’s also supposed to listen to you, Sam, but he’s not. He’s known you longer, what makes you think he’s going to listen to me?” Sam tilted his head to the side before raising an eyebrow back at her. At that, she rolled her eyes. “Sex does not equal wearing the pants in the relationship.”
“Oh, Bela-the things you don’t know about men.”
Bela laughed slightly. “I’m aware that some men are lead by how often they get to take off their pants, but I think you and I both know that Michael is not one of those men.”
“Look, I’m just saying that if anyone has more pull than me, it’s you,” he sighed, running a hand through his hair. “It’s worth a shot, Bela. I just-I don’t want him to get hurt.”
“And you think I do?”
“I didn’t say that.”
“Sam-he won’t listen to me,” Bela sighed. “He’s convinced that he’s helping people by going on this damn suicide mission. He’s not thinking about himself-or me, apparently.”
Sam was quiet for a moment, before he ran his hand over his face and moving in closer. “This is going to be a long road, isn’t it?”
“Oh, I never doubted that for a second,” she replied, reaching for the drink in front of her with a heavy sigh. “Here’s hoping we all make it out of it.”
